Dance
AG : there is a hierarchy in ice dance but LaLa are exceptional. A podium is not impossible.
About Fabbri/Ayer : he mentions their skills and quality.
About Chock and Bates : AG : they are a bit overscored these days . (oups !)
They run up the results of the RD.
Without any surprise the Americans have chosen the right time to get their best performance of the season. Piper and Paul are 4 points behind.
Piper : we feel at home with this program. This is such a Piper and Paul program.
LaLa : we are tired but we did so well and we are proud.
F/A : we were super well prepared. We had a few bobbles and the score reflects that but we are still happy about our performance.
They show LaLa's FD : One foot : exceptional glide. Spin, excellent rotation and beautiful position. They move extremely well. Twizzles : AG says OUI OUI OUi for each set and says Excellent. He goes on praising them for their synchronicity and their lightness and ease in their skating during the step sequence. He says they take a lot of risks and push themselves. Complexity of movement. Loves the rotational lift. Pretty much, he loves it. He says it's an exceptional performance, A flawless performance. The colour commentator is screaming. AG : they can be very proud of this performance, and adds, be patient, one day you will be first in the world. Colour commentator... Zach was saying they are tired. AG : well it can get tiring when they are not given what they deserve. After reviewing the twizzles he changes his mind twice.. at first he says that there was a small blip.. and then he says,.. no it was good.
KnC moment : Both commentators cannot believe the scores... AG says not even Patrice can understand those marks.
They are showing the Italians now.
They are not saying much. At the end, he mentions that there are original things in there. He mentions that the public reception is so so. He mentions they usually skate with more joy and this was very mechanical... I guess he means that despite being robots, they still missed bringing the energy, hence the lukewarm reaction from the crowd.
Brits : he notes some positive things like depth of edges but also some mistakes like the difficult to get up on the lift. He seems to have liked it... he calls it a great moment in skating. Will they mess up the usual hierarchy ? says AG. He says, I think they are getting closer and closer to the podium. He sends shade to the judges saying that they are so trusted that they remove the highest and lowest mark and on top of that, they change the judges from the RD to the FD (well he didn't say that they only replace a couple judges) so that way, they cannot fix things among themselves .... AG is not happy that their score is low but then yells in victory when they reach first place and secure the podium.
Piper and Paul : magnificient lift, exceptional attitude (which I believe means posture) he mentions the beauty of the costumes... i guess he hasn't read the comments about Paul's back LOL. He's raving about their elegance. Also loving the one foot mirror sequence.. how difficult it is to make it look good and how original it is. Excellent edges, great amplitude. Lots of nuances. Twizzles, he screams a big yes... He encourages them saying they are wonderful and this could be a win for them. One of their best performances ever from what he has seen from them over the years. He mentions their strength and speed. An exceptional moment. He just cannot stop raving about it and quite frankly, I agree with him though he annoys me for talking non-stop over the program. He says they have succeeded to give their best performance ever. He says they are always in character. He again mentions how difficult and innovative some of their elements are. Unique moment they will remember forever, and we will too.
Maddie and Evan : Excellent lift. Languid and sensual. Twizzles : perfect. Original dance spin. She's omniprésente (pretty much he is saying that she outshines him but it's not done in a petty way). He notes that Piper and Paul did One foot mirror... very stable in the step sequence. Very dancing... which is something he didn't say about them last year where he really hammered them for not moving enough. He says that it's a great program. Two great skaters. He mentions the amazing work from IAM with them.
What a battle. Colour commentator : i hope this will be close... it's a judged sport... it shouldn't be a question of taste. AG : well, we are before the Olympic games...and we never know what the teams will bring for the Olympics so everything will have to be restarted. Teams never know if they will have good material. The Americans have a much better program than last year (I agree) and they have improved.
Scores : they get the best FD result and are world champions. Congratulations (colour commentator)
No word from AG on this
Interviews: Piper we were the calmest. It was so special. Paul we gave ourselves the objective to win, so of course, we are a bit disappointed but we are proud
Marjorie : i felt great. I was very connected with the music and with Zach. i will have to look to better understand the results
Zach : we fought... it's important to fight even when we are tired. the score is the score, we will go back home and resume training and that's all.
