Anna Mackenzie/Wesley Lockwood have both competed in Canadian national competitions prior to teaming up. They are listed as subs for JGP Ankara for Sweden.

Sweden has now 4 ID teams, it´s gone from zero to four teams in no time. I wonder how Mackenzie/Lockwood ended up representing Sweden. If they are going to train in Canada, getting citizenship will be difficult. Now officially they have replaced the other junior team in Ankara, so we will see them there.

Anna Mackenzie's Mum is Swedish.

Scroll down to the box for Marie Jonsson MacKenzie, and click on the "Contact / Qualifications" button. A pop-up appears telling us a summary of her background.

So, presumably, Anna already has Swedish citizenship and it would only be Wesley Lockwood that would be looking for it.

Hope this helps.

Apparently yes:

(For the purpose of the thread, Charlotte Chung/Axel Mackenzie (Ice Dance, Canada) have also switched to Sweden as per their ISU bio in the quoted post)
Interesting move. With only this season left in Jr (if I'm counting correctly) and their scores the past two years in Jr, they hardly seem ready to go Sr next year.

I wonder why the younger pair was sent out before them. If Sweden is looking to develop, it would make more sense to give them more experience now in front of international judges before making the move to senior.

Mackenzie/Lockwood outscored Chung/Mackenzie at the Skate Ontario August competition, so that could be a factor.

Plus I don't know when they decided to change countries. I checked their bio in the Wayback machine. A capture on August 16 had them representing Canada, so the update was fairly recent. They also competed at Lake Placid Ice Dance International last year. While it's been a year, they still need the release from Skate Canada.

Not sure if this qualifies as a country change or not.

Leilah PATTEN is a Ladies Singles Skater who is half British and half Bulgarian.

For many years, she has been competing in domestic events and National Championships in both countries. When competing in British competitions, she represents Sheffield. And when competing in Bulgarian competitions, she represents the Denkova-Staviski club.

Last season, she was the 🥈 Silver Medallist in Junior Ladies at the Bulgarian Championships. And then a matter of weeks later, she was 5th in Junior Ladies at the Qualifiers for the British Championships.

For the past couple of seasons, she has been listed in Entries / Results pages of international events as representing the Denkova-Staviski club. But there has been no flag or country code next to her name. For example:

2024 Bellu Memorial Advanced Novice Ladies Entries

In short, I have no idea which country she was representing the past few seasons. [When mentioning her in reports for my Fan Fests, I hedged my bets and wrote "Leilah PATTEN (BUL? / GBR?)"].

But tomorrow, she is making her Junior GP debut representing Great Britain.

Given the ambiguity as to which country she has been representing, I'll leave it up to you to decide whether to put her in the OP.

According to the ISU bio, Mia Risa Gomez (NOR) is now longer coached by Agnes Z, but changed coaches to Hilde Aaby and Berit Steigedal.

I think it´s mainly related to the fact that they Mia and her sister Ella has moved during the summer and changed clubs to Asker kunstløpklubb, the same club as Linnea Kilsand and Pernille With among others belongs to.

It also says that Mia is now a university student, so I would think that´s all somehow related.

It´s possible the coaching situation is not entirely figured out yet and temporary, since she will be splitting time with both Hilde and Berit.

Stephen Gogolev (CAN) has left Rafael Arutyunyan. He has kept Lee Barkell as a coach and added Benoit Richaud.

I noted previously he only had Lee Barkell as a coach on his National Team page, his ISU bio has been updated to confirm it.

Hmm kinda make sense because he spent a lot of time at Peak Ice Camp this summer.

So Benoit now coaches Tennell and Gogolev, does he coach anybody else? Seems like he only select a few special students. Is he coaching Adam as well or he is just choreographing?

I checked Adam Siao Him Fa's ISU bio, Benoit is one of his coaches in addition to choreographer (y)
