2024-25 Grand Prix assignments: Updated 11/12/24

Haein Lee and Young You have been removed from the Skate America lineup.
Difficult to decide if to put sad emoji or what, so I went to neutral. Does this mean the spots goes to Minchae, if she is on, Nella and Olga if Minchae is not in? One spot should go to some US girl?

This seems like the appeals were heard and the suspension either not reduced (or not reduced enough to be eligible for SkAM) or the time-line of the appeals has moved back so the suspension stays in place until after SkAm (they've not withdrawn from their second assignments at this point yet).

Hard to say. If the spot was filled by other women from KOR, you would think they would have been added. Either they are still deciding, or the slots will go elsewhere.

If Nella wants Skam, she is basically guaranteed the spot now regardless of if Minchae is skating now. For Skam she is nr. 2 on the list, and there is two spots that needs to be replaced now in that event.

If (and that's a big if) none of the vacated spots have been filled yet, and all skaters are willing/able to take the assignments, then it should be:

SkAm: Minchae Kim (KOR) and Nella Pelkonen (FIN) - Next two on the list would be Olga Mikutina (AUT) and Mariia Seniuk (ISR)
SCI: Minchae Kim (KOR) - Next would be Elyce Lin-Gracey (USA)
CoC: Elyce Lin-Gracey (USA) - Next would be Olga Mikutina (AUT)

Basically, Nella will definitely get her second spot, Minchae would get two, and Elyce probably one. If anyone can't/doesn't take a spot, Olga Mikutina gets at least one GP assignment.

Oh interesting that she is doing Skate Canada and not Skate America, any thoughts why? Is it because she was already offered the spot before You and Lee WD? That also changes things up a little, Seniuk will most likely already get a spot at Skam now with Mikutina. If Pelkonen had gotten Skam along with Mikukina, then Lyn-Gracey would have gotten Skate Canada. However, I think Lyn-Gracey will get Cup of China and first on replacement for GP Finland, so good chance she gets two spots, so US should consider giving the TBD spot at Skate America to someone else.

I can understand why Nella has not chosen SKAM. She probably is going to graduate before Christmas and there maybe some exams left. Edit: Finns know how it works, big exams are on September, but is is common atheletes let some smaller ones after the big ones. I am not sure if Nella will graduate now or at spring, but my guess is that the choose has something to do with her studies.

Nella Pelkonen (FIN) is in at Skate Canada, so she has her two spots now. :)

This seems to also be a pretty clear indication that Minchae is not going to do the GP (if she's skating this season at all).
Are there any chances that Minchae is still getting a spot at Skate America? She got her new programs done during the mid season so I was really hopeful to see her competing again. Anyways it's quite a loss for the whole Korean girls team as they only have three girls competing in the series

She could, I guess. But the spot at SCI opened up first and has been filled first, so I assume she would have been offered the spot before Nella (as per the rules) if she was able to be picked for a GP.

That makes more sense. Nella got SCI because she probably was asked before SKAM opened. She is not very active at social media, but interesting that neither local FED or herself has posted nothing about it yet when I post this. Usually skaters are excited when they get GP spots. I hope it is only they are waiting for next weekend's competition, where they select the rest of the women who get Finland's TBD spots and make an article then. Silence is not often a good sign and Nella has been injury sensitive.

Oh, I hope it´s not a bad sign, and that Nella is just not that active on social media. You would think that is something the Fed would share yes. At the same time, if it was very low chances she will not compete she would probably not accepted the spot at this point, but it´s also the possibility they are not sure yet if she will be ready to compete.

I found next weekend's starting list. She is scheduled there. It is possibility local fed wants to make an article about Finland's spots and will mention Nella's extra spot then. Maybe they have asked her not to post about it before.

Having my fingers crossed! Hmm I see now Emmi is not entered for the competition. I know she has been training a lot in the US but I thought she was home now? I would think she be interested in the TBD spots for Finland. Does it mean she can´t get a spot since she isn´t entered for this competition?

I think Emmi was there at the morning local time when I found the results list, but I am not 100 % sure. I don't know what the deadline is and there will be another competition on September. But when other spots were announced on local fed's article was said "the rest of the spots will be decided after the program review event in the middle August". But she has not posted any skating videos for a while on her ig account, and it is not good sign. My wild guess is that Janna gets one spot and the last one is between Oona and Olivia. Linnea was close to loose her national team spot and Selma is recovering from injuries, she just made the scores which are demanded to get a place at the national team at last season's last competion.
