Annaveia Tzu Han Ting (Taiwanese singles skater) will be taking a ‘indefinite’ break from skating - not retiring.

You beat me to that, I was just about to post. Sad decision, but she should do what's best for her. I hope we'll get to see her again.

She won't able to train properly in Leeds. It has rink down on Elland Road, near the football stadium, but it's relatively new and is very much a hockey rink. I imagine she was needing to commute to Sheffield to train and get coaching, but the sort of practice ice she would be needing to train properly may not have been easy to get there because of the number of skaters needing it. Leeds and Sheffield are geographically quite close to each other, but it's not a particularly nice commute - particularly as Ice Sheffield isn't great for public transport. There are few rinks in Northern England which have a suitable training environment for senior elite skaters competing internationally. It's really only Sheffield in Northern England and the Dundee up in Scotland, or Nottingham which is in the Midlands and tricky by public transport from Leeds. Provision is a lot better in the South of the country (which isn't surprising, because skating is expensive and the South is generally richer).

Had he been injured - or maybe unable to find a partner after splitting from Daria Pavliuchenko? They were a fun pair - such energy!
Both.

He told media that his health and age were the reasons.

But there were difficulties in his new partnership, too. He took part in several competitions with Taisia Sobinina. Unfortunately she has a severe back injury and was unable to compete in the second half of the previous season.

New Ice Dance team - Dana Sabatini-Speciale/Danny Kaye:

Not sure which country they'll compete for, they'd have four options to choose from after all - CAN, ITA, GBR, IRL :drama: Barbara Fusar Poli is tagged, so maybe that's a small tip-off towards Italy?

Update for Dana Sabatini-Speciale/Danny Kaye, they're going to represent South Africa:

So there was a fifth option for them to choose.

Gutted. Absolutely gutted.

I loved them. And I know a lot of other people did too.

Despite their young ages, they had been together for so long. And I thought they would be one of these partnerships that would stay together forever. I really did not see this one coming.

All the best to Ashlie and Atl with whatever the future holds for them.
