This one actually happened in the 2023-24 season.

Miku Makita/Tyler Gunara (Ice Dance, Canada) split/retired sometime between June 2023 and August 2023.

- they were listed on the World Standings on a capture from June 22, 2023 with their points adjusted for the start of the 2023-24 season
- the next capture after that is from August 2, 2023. They were removed from the list at that point along with other teams that split (such as Romy Malcom/Noah Lafornara).

Miku is coaching at the Vancouver Ice Dance Academy and has been working with Juvenile Ice Dance teams.

I had a feeling they were done. We have not seen them for a while.

Chaima Ben Khelifa and Nikita Sosnenko are a new Ice Dance team, they'll be competing at the Junior level.

No confirmation of country in the announcement, but Patinage Quebec and Skate Canada were tagged in the announcement. Skate Canada also liked it, so I believe it will be Canada.

Nikita previously skated with Harlow Lynella Stanley for Mexico on the Junior Grand Prix last season. Chaima previously skated with Everest Zhu.

Ava Valentina Aversano Martinez and Christian Bennett are a new Ice Dance team for Mexico. They are on the entries for Budapest Trophy (here).

Christian Bennett previously skated with Emma Goodstadt for Canada. He originally skated for the USA domestically. They may be coached by Igor Shpilband, they were both tagged in a photo by the Carandiucs visiting Novi, Michigan here.

Katarina Delcamp (formerly GBR ice dance, split from Billy Wilson-French a couple of seasons ago, and US ice dance before that) has reappeared and is representing Turkey now with Berk Akalin. I do not know anything about him. They are entered for the challenger event in Budapest but do not yet have an ISU profile.

They're not just partners on the ice. They're actually married!

  • Berk AKALIN was a Men's Singles skater until the 2010-11 Season. (ISU Bio)
  • Then he partnered Çağla DEMIRSAL in Junior Ice Dance, Senior Ice Dance and Senior Pairs skating from the 2011-12 Season to the 2016-17 Season. (ISU Bio)
  • Then he partnered Nicole KELLY in Senior Ice Dance from the 2018-19 Season to the 2019-20 Season. (ISU Bio)
  • Then he partnered Yuliia ZHATA in Senior Ice Dance from the 2020-21 to the 2021-22 Season. (ISU Bio)
  • And he has been with Katarina DELCAMP in Senior Ice Dance since the 2023-24 Season.

Here is Berk's Rink Results Bio:

Joy Weinberg and Thierry Ferland (Pairs, Canada) look to have split?

They were reported being on Patinage Quebec's Equipe B here. They are no longer on Equipe B from the list updated August 19 (here)

I realized that they weren't on the list for Quebec sectionals.
