They are the only team that got level 4 on the step sequence and even though I though theirs was good, it didn't warrant a level 4. It was just solid level 3 for me. Regarding the level 2 twist, I thought their twist was easily level 3 as I can see atleast 3 features that they hit just fine.
They have good lines and a classic look on them so I guess that helps on the overall visual.
Their SBS jump was impressive because of the height and distance but then again its easy to stand out when the rest of the competition has subpar SBS. Technically very competent team but needs more ommpp to really contend for the top.

For me Kam/O'Shea had the best lines, best sync and were fastest of the top team. UZB teams was quite slow. No F for Efimova

Is it possible for Gamez to get her triple jump in one season? She hasn't landed one yet in international competition with +GOE. It seems like a major element holding the pair back from medaling. I'm a new fan of pairs tho so just wondering.

I always say, it is so much easier to learn the pair elements -- twists, throws -- but the jumps, no.

If you are not a strong singles skater or didn't have the most solid foundation for learning jump techniques, it takes a long time to do a consistent triple jump. she needs a super good jump coach to work with her jump technique. Alas, it is not something she can learn in one season

Same problem with Val and Max (USA). Val didn't have double axel or any triples when she did pairs with Max. So she's been working with a jump coach. Three or four years later, their SBS jump is still a crapshoot and you will never know if she will land it or not (most often, not).

As a singles skater, Val achieved some successful double axels in competition in 2019-20 season at Collegiates and Regionals.

I hope that her hard work and perseverance will lead to improvement in jumping.

I wonder if this would be a case then where the pair focuses on increasing difficulty on the other elements (Gamez once said they were considering a quad twist) and does dependable doubles for SBS. But there are so many points left on the board without those SBS triples or double axel...

I should have added "consistent." She did win novice in the collegiate as a single skater.

When all the rest are doing triple SBS jumps and your team can only do doubles, you must ensure all the other elements get at least +3 GOEs with the most level. For example, Max and Val may struggle in SBS jumps but have the most beautiful lifts.

If the team is weak in one element, it needs to be flawless in the other elements to be really competitive because other teams are also increasing their technical difficulty.

I am not sure if Gamez/Korovin still trains at Montclair University's rink. If so, she can get one of the Ice House coaches in Hackensack to work with her on her jumps. I'd love to see them do better—at least reach the free skate round at the World's next year.

Thanks for this insight. Yes, G/K are still at Montclair, according to recent pictures on their Instagram.

Update: they are also training part-time in Sochi with Savin and Klimov. So fingers crossed for some breakthrough performances this year.
