2024 Grand Prix de France Free Dance

Anyway, this gold in free dance after Adam's gold was a good surprise as otherwise, this grand prix was really depressing for any french fs fan..

Actually, the choreographer has more to do with this and assisting the teams with choosing their music and concept than the others, yes if the coaches do double work like a few at IAM do, then yes but you can't leave out choreographers: That is their job.
Of course, my apologise - I conflated the two because currently a lot of the "top" coaches choreograph the programs at the moment, at least seemingly with IAM, Barbara, Zanni, Arribert-Narce, Carol Lane(dependent on the team).

nowadays more than before, I do think in many instances, the more prominent coaches tend to focus on the choreo and the programs, and then "assistants" who deal with the technique (correct me if Im wrong but in the past I think it was more the other way around, where main coaches were more technical and choreographers more seperate).

But you're totally right - Massimo Scali I think often does the choreo for Maurizio's Finnish teams and Laurie May for Lagouge Caffa. And I think its mostly the cases for the teams who train with him.

They're still very much more separate and choreographers aren't considered "assistants".

Could this be the start of a clear path for Fear/Gibson or Lajoie/Lagha to ascend onto the world podium?
Maybe these older teams like C/B and G/F are starting to run out of steam? It would be nice to see some younger teams on the podium and not the same old teams that have been hanging around for well over a decade just trying to outlast everyone before they get too old.

Cup of China looks very interesting now, with Lajoie & Lagha H2H with Guignard & Fabbri - and quite a supporting cast who are able to take advantage of weakness.

I feel as though G & F were very lucky here that 3rd place and below didn't get >189. Second place isn't too ruinous to their chances.

Their biggest saving grace is that chock/bates didn't win skate america.

Assuming (A HUGE Assumption given what we've seen) CB win NHK, and Piper & Paul win Finlandia, and Charlene and marco win Cup of China, then only Piper and Paul would have won 2Grand prix.

However, to be in final group of GPF (and get the judge benefits from doing so), charlene and marco would need to have a higher score than Lilah and Lewis and/or Chock and Bates. For their season to be a success and set up Milano 2026 (to win europeans and maintain the world's podium, it's really important for them to be on the GPF podium)
