In the case of Shimada I said it before she is beneficied of the technical content of her programs, the quality of spins and jumps the consistency, the previous medals, rather than her presentation ability, not saying she is bad or something because she is clearly one of the best but many japanese skaters for example are at the same level or even better than Mao in presentation and it's not reflected, but well it has always been like this in the sport so I don't get why someone would get upset by that at this point, skaters from other nations have also been beneficiated by this like russia for example
what a performance! By the way with that score she would have won the Men‘s Event by over 17 points, too.
