Do GP assignments normally work like that? Isn’t there usually a replacement list or something?
Alternates are chosen by the highest eligible skater starting this season, no going down the list of top 10. Fabbri/Ayer happened to be at the top of the list since apparently they're updating the alternate list with current SBs if they're higher for most of the skaters. The official list is here, last updated October 8th.

It was a nice coincidence that they're located close enough that they could be alternates with little difficulty in travel arrangements and shared coaches with other teams.

I wonder if, after this year, they will give hosts more "wiggle room" (more freedom to choose from list) for very late replacements.

I was afraid we weren't going to get a dance replacement at all for Skate America. I was pleased when the Germans were announced, as I really liked them last year at Skate Canada. But I'm even more pleased about Fabbri/Ayer, since I have been following them (remotely on streams) since their very first junior competition. They made some errors in their first competitions, and there was some fear they'd break up, but I'm really glad they didn't!

Before we get started here, I just want to say I will miss y'all down there terribley. I am fighting 5 new and recycled medical problems this year but I can still ride and camp out in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming at 9700 ft and enjoy life. At least I can say I lived to 75 so far. But all the tests and trying to keep my 15 acres from going up in smoke, I had to make some hard choices and one was not to go to Texas. Looks like a great comp. I am gonna take a break from the fight and Cruise from San Diego to the Sea of Cortez for 11 days in Dec so I have someone to talk with..the wonderful Indonesians, Filipinos, and Thais I meet. They are so open and friendly and sing while they work. They share their ups and downs with me and I with them. I dont know how they work 7 days a week for 8 months and 9 hours a day and more and still smile. But they do.
Y'all have fun down there and cheer my Asian skaters on. I will be watching you on the big screen. (Note my belt ...had to keep poking holes in it and make it smaller so my pants wouldnt fall off on the tread mill. LOL! But the food is delicious.

Great that the ISU are showing the replacement list. But why is Elina Goidina and Maria Eliise Kaljuvere from Estonia on there...they are both juniors. And Daniel Martynov from USA is missing.

I'm assuming Martynov was taken off since he did appear as a sub for the JGP and wouldn't have been eligible. But they left in other JGP competitors, so

It's been interesting looking at the various updates to the list since there's more rules to it than what is actually in the announcement. But how they've been applied doesn't look consistent, so you get Goidina and Kaljuvere being on the list.

I think they have always updated the list with new results...it would explain some strange replacements in the past.

My theory why the Estonian juniors are on the list, is that there is an old choreographer now working as a controller at the ISU, and the poor soul can't get his numbers right...

Does anyone have suggestions for the following situation. Tickets were transferred to me with a Ticketmaster link. They show up in a Safari page but do not show up in my account in the Ticketmaster App. Also in the Safari page they don't offer the option to download the ticket into my Apple Wallet. Any info about secret magic would be welcome.

I currently have "coverage will resume shortly" on Peacock.

I have a simple question, because I dislike those colored schedules and cannot read them. Is there an ETA for men's practice (and Donovan:love2:)?

Men’s practice is listed as starting at 1:10 pm—I guess that’s CST, though.

Jean Luc Baker, who provided commentary during the Women’s practice, indicated that he will be commenting during the rest of today’s practices. Naturally I will be especially interested in his thoughts on Dance, which is next.

I wish Jean-Luc would consider competing in the new solo dance discipline—he would be awesome at that :)

For those who do not have Peacock, Tim Dieck changed his RD costume, and now looks somewhat less disreputable, which is a pity.

Jean Luc is an excellent Dance commentator—as one would expect—but I think is a tad too technical for a general skating audience

Jean Luc’s comments as to the skating skill levels of Davis/Smolkin are rather…pointed

Honestly, though, he is quite even handed, and no one yet has appeared to impress him

ETA: And if anyone has questions for Jean Luc—as well one might—he is apparently taking them on X, c/o US Figure Skating
