Unfortunately there isn't. ISU GP alternate list
There are at least two active Canadian teams who have scored above 132.93 at domestic competitions, even if not at international competitions (because Skate Canada doesn't send the Canadian skaters out) - Carignan/Pierro (144.06 at Skate Canada Challenge 2023/24) and Bombardier/Mimar (140.86 at Quebec Summer Champs 2024/25). A few other teams scored above that threshold but have since split, not least of all because they were not given many opportunities to develop.

Host spots don't need to be on the alternate list though and don't need to get these scores.... and they had gotten these scores before... so :) it's just Skate Canada willing to spend money on a team training in Russia instead of one in Quebec/Ontario.

A federation not bothering to give experience to hopeful national teams looks bad regardless of how to spin it. Almost feels like : no medal prospects, no spending. Ugh

And maybe picking a team from the alternates' list is better for the spectacle, but it feels odd, not needed.

Are the Friday/Sat/Sun practices open to the public?
The Friday and Saturday practices are usually available if you have the ticket for the first competition that day. Sunday practices are sometimes closed but usually when there is a Gala practice. With no Gala I am hoping that practice will be open too.

thank you! Do they allow in & out privledges between practice & competition? On Friday, practice ends at 3:55p but competion doesn't start until 6p.

Thanks!

It's very likely that they do. At the SC organized comps I have been at, you just need to scan your ticket when leaving, so it will know you are not an additional scan of the same ticket when you come back in.

Not official yet, but Nella Pelkonen's spot to Canada has been removed from Finland's skater's autunm spot. The reason most likely is her leg injuries.

Practices will be on Peacock TV; hopefully someone will team up with maybe Jackie Wong or Jean Luc Baker to commentate during the practices as they did for Skate America

I had to cancel my plans, but originally I had booked the Prince George Hotel which is directly across the street from the arena. It was pretty pricey. I believe a few people had mentioned they stayed at the Hampton, which is close by, reasonable, and includes a free hot breakfast.
Pricey including the exchange rate? "Hurricanes in Halifax Hardly ever happen."

Halifax is beautiful but it is one place I have never motorcycle toured...would love to. Right now there is 4 hours difference from Spokane. In the US, Daylight standard time returns the week after.
