2024 Skate Canada: General Info and Pre-game chat

I will miss being there....beautiful place by all accounts. In a few years I will buy a class b (small) converted van and see the area. Lots of great skaters this time....I have 7 friends who have had Sars 2 KP.2, KP.2.3, KP.3 and KP.3.1.1, as well as LB.1, They did not have an easy time but I do carry Paxlovid due to my COPD...and mask up. I would go but stay masked. The exchange rate is .72 US dollar for a Canadian dollar so its a great time to be an American and go there. You all have fun....I need a 3T MRI on my prostate and have no idea how much fun THAT will be Thursday but I bet its not as fun as being in Halifax! :rofl:Go Team Asia!

If anyone goes to the Skate Canada SCI 2024 site and goes to the live stream section, there is a link there where it will ask you to login.

You will have to go to sign in -> Fan/Member Account -> Sign Up Now

When you are creating your account, you'll have to verify your email before it will let you fill in the other fields. You will then get to the page where the Dailymotion stream will be.

Is there a world feed other than dailymotion for watching? My pc has decided for me that dailymotion is a security risk and will not let me watch.

I am working all weekend and need something I can watch on time delay.
If not, then I will not be watching.

I think the other usual feeds will work. This is the one the ISU Youtube streams are geoblocked in Canada for, I usually watch it on Dailymotion since I don't use VPNs.

If you use VPN, it should be available on CBC Sports if you don't want to watch it on Youtube.

Opera internet browser with the inbuilt (free) VPN turned on and set to 'Europe' should give you access to the ISU stream.

I lived 5 and half years there, the people are very friendly and the air very clean ..

Halifax ❤️ 😍 💖 u forever .
I am so old I remember when The air was clean and sex was dirty! I have seen northern Wisconsin and Michigan in the Fall. We in Spokane have about a two-3 week color window for the larch and aspen and Maple. I have run into many friendly Canadians on Canoeing trips , and in Kaslo, Kelowna, Victoria and Vancouver. And London Ontario. There were people who would even speak to me! The only unfriendly ones I meet are on cruise ships who attack me verbally for being an American....(I just mention "Floaty" and they go away.)Would love to go to Halifax.....tour all around Nova Scotia....beautiful area....
Dont you feel bad for people who live in Iowa? Here is the Seattle area.

Athol Navy base. Bayview, Lake Pend Oreille. Probably much like Halifax.

I used to use Proton free VPN but then it became not so free, so i use an extension for MS Chrome that makes me look like I am in the Netherlands. I have a Dutch friend in North Idaho who retired from the US Military. He married a German and he and his wife speak German at home in the North woods and he has a heavy accent. When we tour into Canada, he stops his motorcycle and the Canadian customs guy asks where he is from and he truthfully answers "Athol". You should see the look on the custom officers face! :rofl:Athol was once one of the biggest Navy bases in the country...now it just has a small reserch station.

Beautiful up there but remembering my one and only trip by Land Rover it was sparsely populated. We motored around Cape Breton down to Halifax and decided to short cut across the mainland to St. John, at night… big mistake. That terrain was single gravel road, dense woodland, and DARK. Couple of hours in the vehicle went off road getting stuck in a ditch at a 45 degree angle and would not budge. We had to exit thru the back door, jump to the ground. My friend and fellow traveler Scott and I sat on a log in despair.. during our entire venture into this region we had not seen one single other vehicle.. we thought we were done and dusted. Cold hungry we had been sitting about an hour when off in the distance we saw a slew of rainbow lights coming toward us.. an Angel with an 18 wheeler. He stopped; a man of few words but so kind. Got a heavy hook, chain, pulled the LR upright set it on course and with a casual wave was gone. We were shaking with relief, waited til daylight to finish the trip but did not meet another vehicle motoring to St John..

Isn't the TransCanada Highway going from Halifax to Saint-John ? I doubt it's a gravel road... looks to me like you took a side road ?

We were there way before it went in? 1976.. Either that or we knew nothing and took a side road😬 Scott made the decision not me🤣

EDT. Just checked .. 1962 so not sure why we went that way.. ? Highway closed for some reason, the road we took was close to hand? It was a fishing trip early September
But the road we took looked like an old logging road. It was a night I will never forget. Strange the truck we met was on that route if the highway was an option.. it’s a mystery
