2024 Trophy Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur: Info and pre-game chat

The weather conditions are going to stay that bad until tomorrow around noon, as far as I've read...that's going to be a lot of rearranging :-/
I guess it all depends on how bad the damage is. Things like this can interfere with infrastructure for days. Sometimes those extreme weather don´t hit as hard as predicted (thank god!). Having fingers crossed it will clear out earlier and that it won´t be much damage and that everyone stays safe!

A big part of the south east of france is on red alert, that's mean should stay at home, not using your car... So yeah it's not usual at all and it's a big alert, that's for why the competition is stopped. It should be more calm tomorow so the competition should probably continue

Junior ladies event has been cancelled - medals already awarded from short placement. I believe pairs is also cancelled - not sure about the other events

Pairs Fs and junior ID cancelled, too. Results based on SP and Rd.

And other postponed until the conditions are safe, if I read right. Sorry I am not able to copy by my cell phone, and have shut down the computer. I just read it from skaters' ig stories.

In France, red alert is the highest alert level, it is quite rare and means exceptionnal weather condition. If I'm not mistaken, when a red alert is issued, many activities have to be stopped, including competitions and so on. It doesn't mean that the rink is at risk, but it is mandatory. It is a safety measure before all.
Yes, my understanding is that a red alert means all non-essential activities have to be stopped. I've known it to happen with major cycle races.

While I will miss seeing the rest of the event, I am grateful that France put everyone’s safety first. Last time we had an event stopped was also in France - the GP in Bordeaux. I remember Gracie Gold won based on the short program. That delay was not due to weather, but a terrorist incident.

I'm surprised that they've been allowed to hold medal ceremonies.

Congrats to Bella and Sasha for their silver medal at Nice!
It is their second medal in international competition, their first being also at Nice in 2022.
We can say...Nice is nice to them. :)

The pairs were already at the rink for their practice and just waiting for their free skate turn. It looks like they held an informal ceremony at the rink (or a hotel?) and I suppose everyone left after that. I'm glad they got some kind of ceremony.

Have competitions for tomorrow been cancelled? I really want to see the Senior Men and they are scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Start orders for the events tomorrow were posted, that's where the new withdrawals were coming from. It hasn't been cancelled yet.

It looks the weather will be quite normal there today evening. Warning is different than what actually happens, during warning = be prepared what is coming, and when it happens = be prepared but it does not always happen; storms only sometimes subside before reaching the destination . Sometimes the storms just Oona (one of Finnish skaters there) have posted some photos outside yesterday and it also looks quite normal cloudy weather - and it means the Finns have got there, too. Oona, one of th about 60 skaters I stalk through their ig, is very active at ig , has left Finland yesterday morning. My Ig account exists because of professional reasons, but mostly I use it to follow skaters. But warnings should always be taken seriously. Anybody here who lives or is visiting the area who could tell more accurate information?
