If Skate Canada were sensible, they would have Gogo go elsewhere for his GP events. He will automatically get two spots, and if he goes elsewhere for them then Skate Canada can give host spots to three men. If Gogo does Skate Canada, then that uses one of the host spots and there is one less spot for Canadian men across the GP series as a whole. With the skaters aging out of juniors, you have a lot of decent male skaters and very few GP spots for them. Roman gets one spot based on world standing and, if he doesn't get a second spot outright, will be very high on the replacement list based on SB. However, Aleksa Rakic, Wesley Chiu, David Bondar, Anthony Paradis, and Grayson Long (if he moves up to seniors internationally) are not guaranteed any GP spots and - given the number of high ranking juniors from other countries moving up t seniors - are unlikely to get anything other than a host spot.
If they continue, Piper and Paul would also be best going to other GP events to maximise the number available for Canadian skaters. However, given all the teams which have split, that is perhaps less of an issue than it is for men.
