2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

Sorry for all the splits - I liked many of those teams, but happy that new pairings are being formed that seem well thought out. If you're going to split now is the best time. Good luck to all those continuing anew.

Kallay/Lacasse is not one I was expecting! I thought he would want someone with more experience of pairs. Looking forwards to seeing how they develop as a pair. I assume that they will skate as juniors?

Kallay does have some good jumps (3Lz, 3L) according to the protocols from nationals. It could be an interesting pairing and I am hopeful this will work for both partners. Lacasse needs some stability in partnerships to develop his skills too. And I appreciate them announcing it rather than burdening us with the stress of speculation and rumour. (hint to other new teams 😊)

Étienne, I believe has 3s, 3t and 3Flip... will be interesting here.

Kaydee has an inconsistent 3T and an underrotated 3S, 3Lo has got closer to being consistent with it being the compulsory jump this past season, and 3Lz is almost consistent. If she can sort her 3T and the rotation issues on the 3S then it might work. Etienne was regularly doing a 2Lz at the start of the jump sequence last season and it is possible that he might have a triple too. I think he had to fit with what Julia could manage.

I didn't think he did a triple lutz when he skated singles

He does. Those were the triples he attempted in singles. The 3T is his most solid triple.

Kaydee, I have followed her in some of the smaller domestic events, and she goes for all the triples. She is not consistent with any of them. But, the 3T is her most consistent triple as well. Not at Challenger or Nationals. But, normally she lands this triple at the previous event

I think they will go for 2A, 3T jump elements. The good news is she can do a 2A 2A combo. They both have work to do if they want to add the salchow (3S). I’m shocked yet excited for this pair. I wonder where they will train. Athletes like these were never going to be sent internationally in singles. So, might as well try pairs.

I would bet still with Yvan and representing Québec.
