2025-26 German Nationals

Two for men and dance, one for pairs and women.

The selection pool is determined by two minimum scores (ISU TES minimum and DEU minimum total score), and the skaters are then sorted by their three highest scores plus their Nationals score (I think?). Felix, for example, has just reached the DEU minimum score, but he doesn't have the ISU TES minimums, so he's currently not in the running for one of the two spots.

I think the three skaters in the selection pool following Nationals are Genrikh, Leon and Soner.
I don't follow German Juniors that closely (yet) but who would you send based on how they've done in recent competitions so far? I think I remember seeing Soner at one of the JGPs this year.... I believe that he did better there in the free skate than today, for example?

Well, Genrikh, obviously (though I don't want him to burn himself out if he's selected for Euros and Sr Worlds too - As he is also at the top of the selection list in Seniors).

Leon has a 3A and the highest JGP score (by some way) of the non-Genrikh German Junior men, but has been more inconsistent in recent competitions, while Soner has been consistently adding to his scores from competition to competition and won here. Tough choice, tbh.

(I'd personally love to see Felix, but that is a pipe dream - Even if he gets the TES minimums in time, his international scores have been in the lower range.)

Oh, that was nice from Luisa. Obviously, she can't compete with the top girls in terms of technical content, but she gave it everything and got it all done as well as she could. She's happy.

A fall for Jara, but also some nice elements. She has pretty decent jumps, actually, just not difficult ones. I like the scrunchie 🩵

Good skate for Katya, apart from the popped 2T fall/step-out :( The Loop was also underrotated, but the rest of her jumps looked good today. I particularly like her Axel, she gets some good upward drive on the take-off. Very fitting program choice for this time of the year. 🎀

It's interesting that Hoshiyo doesn't seem to have a 3T or 3S, but a 3Lo and 3Lz. Pretty dress and a nice skate 💙 She's satisfied with her score and relieved about staying in first.

maybe a case of learning the more difficult triples first? I mean, being more confident in a lutz helps for your freeskate BV too.

A bit sad for Valeria - Those two falls at the beginning were clearly just due to nerves, she got both jumps done in combination later on. She reminds me a bit of Marie Bierwert (who now skates for the UAE).

I think Adelina grew a bit since last year and she's lost some confidence on her jumps due to that. Not a terrible skate though, just a little messy.

Shame about the jumps later on in the program, but she fought. She's a very talented young girl, today just wasn't her day. Very emotive and dramatic, too.

Almost a pristine skate, just the unexpected fall on the 3F. Still, Diana is such a strong skater, very consistent, despite her young age. Well done on medaling at her first Jr Nationals.

I am not familiar with German women's figure skating, what I don't understand is the division into “junior women” and “youth women.” How do they differ? What strikes me when I look at the profiles is that “junior women” are 13-15 years old (as is customary internationally), while “youth women” are 14-16 (or 17?) years old, with the latter appearing more mature and feminine in some cases, but being rated significantly lower...?!
