What a beautiful programme from the only international skater in this competition, Skater #24 from the UAE!

She goes into the lead, with just 2 skaters left to go.

You know, I really enjoyed the programme after her too. Skater #25 was skating to pan pipe music. And she was wearing what I suppose is Peruvian traditional dress.

She goes into 23rd position.

The final girl did a "La La Land" programme. And she won!

The stream has now frozen on a lovely shot of her and the grown-ups with her having a massive group hug.

We are back now with the Cubs 2 girls.

And in this opening group we have the skater who is the reason I decided to watch today. I remembered her because I really loved the programme she used last season. And I am curious to see what she has this season.

Oh my goodness! There are kids in the audience chanting her name during the Warm-Up!

Clearly I am not the only one supporting her!

Although, now that I notice, there are two skaters in this group with that first name. So, the chanting may be for the other girl.

We'll just have to wait until they each come out to see.

Well, they was no chanting for Skater #2. So, it looks like my first thought was correct and it was indeed for Skater #5.

EDIT: I must have mis-heard what was being chanted. It was Skater #4 that the chanting was for.​

That was amusing. When she finished, she gathered up the gifts on the ice, and went to the gate. And just stood there. And somebody had to come along and open the gate for her.

Oh. Is that why the gate wasn't already opened for her? The wee girl doesn't have anybody with her. She's just sitting there all on her lonesome.

She goes into 2nd position. But, she isn't far behind the leader.

EDIT: Skater #2 was wandering around the results area after Skater #3 got her scores. So, I suspect they are team-mates, and their coach was busy seeing to Skater #3.​

She's wearing a typically 80's aerobics outfit (blue, pink, yellow... you get the drift), and skating to "Gimme Gimme Gimme".

I really loved her old programme to "Mickey" by Toni Basil. And I loved this programme too!

She's got lots of cuddly toys.

Hang on. Is she crying behind the cuddly toys?

She is! In fact, it looks like she's very angry.

Looks like I've found myself another skater that is a perfectionist.

She goes into 2nd position.

The stream was playing up again during Skater #7. The music sounded good, but I have no idea if the skating was because the picture was frozen.

This is getting very frustrating. The first skater after the Warm-Up, Skater #8, was skating to a lively song from Indila (I don't actually know the song, but it was definitely her voice). And it sounded like it would be fun. But I didn't see much.

Ah good. The stream started behaving itself shortly after Skater #9 started. And a good job too. She was doing a Björk programme!

No, it started going again after she finished.

Skater #11 was getting massive support from the audience, so I guess she is a local skater. She was skating to "Tourner Dans Le Vide" by Indila.

She goes into 9th position.

And this was the second Indila programme I have missed. I've pretty much given up watching now, and it is just background while I am eating my dinner.

I was thinking of re-starting the laptop during the resurfacing, just to rule out that the problem is at my end. But now that I see that it isn't until the end of the next group, I'll do it now.

Hang on, we've got pictures for Skater #12. So, I think I will wait after all.

She goes into 12th position.

And it's playing up again.

I'm back.

The stream was playing perfectly when I re-opened it. Out of curiosity, I wound it back to where I left it, and started playing catch-up from there. And it was misbehaving during Skater #14. So that just confirmed the stream breaking up was not down to my laptop.

But the stream started behaving again in the middle of the Warm-Up. So, whatever the problem was, they must have fixed it.

The only international skater in this competition, #19 Cruella de VIL (UAE), came off the ice, had a massive hug with her coach (Dad?), and started heading towards the armchairs. But then he spun her around, took her back to the gate and started pointing. And then she headed back out onto the ice.

She had missed a cuddly toy! (It looked like a big yellow chicken ).

She went into what was 8th position at the time.

I was about to type that there have been no changes to the Top 8 since the Emirati girl.

And then the scores for the final girl are announced, and she only goes and wins the competition!

Right, straight onto the Cubs 1 girls.

Eventful start to the competition.

The first skater withdrew.

Then Skater #2 came out and did her programme... with a yellow ponytail. I actually enjoyed the programme.

Then the camera in the results area died. So the camera on the far side of the rink tried to zoom in on her, but the boards were blocking all but the top of her head.

Yay! They got the camera in the results area working again just in time for Skater #3's results being announced.

It had been strange only seeing the top of her head over the boards, and the next skater on the ice in the foreground.

Turns out she had a big crowd in with her. But we had only seen one other head from the other camera.

She goes into second position.

Skater #12 was skating to yet another different Indila song.

She was good.

Wow! She must have the biggest crowd today in with her!

Older sister Vilena won the Bronze Medal in Advanced Novices yesterday.

Younger sister Abriana won the Silver Medal in Chicks 2 this morning.

Can Amelina complete the set in Cubs 1 this afternoon?

Unfortunately, I don't think she will.

Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful programme and she skated it well.

But most of the final spin was after the music finished. And she is likely to get a deduction for it, which won't help her chances.

Ouch. Two half point deductions.

Nevertheless, she has gone into a 5.07 point lead.

Can she hold off the final 15 skaters and complete the dream storyline?
