As I expected, Samodelkina is much improved since the JGP. She still needs more speed, which is even more apparent skating after Sumiyoshi. Jumps weren’t as easy but she seemed to settle down by the second half of the program. She’s on an upward trajectory. I think she’ll make a mark at 4CC.

Samodelkina is a solid jumper, but there's no vision, no projection and zero intricacy in her program. Hana and Rion are in different league in therms of energy, composition and complexity of their programs. It's ridicolous Sofia won over Hana.

Not Mone's best, but she's probably on the come-down from JPNats and is working to peak back up for 4CC and Worlds. Depending on the tech panel and PCS marks, Rion might take the gold here, but Mone for sure has at least silver.

She’ll want to do that 3Lz over, but at least the mistake was on the second and not the first. Gorgeous layback too. I like her SP so much better, but this program definitely shows off her buttery skating skills.

Shouldn’t they be interviewing Sumiyoshi? She’s the one that won the damn thing. The interviewer even congratulated Chiba on her win at first, but then corrected herself.
