2025 Four Continents Pairs Free Skate

Even more distressing is the all-out push for Shin/Nagy, also citizens—which I think has actually hurt them, as witnessed by their performance in the LP at 4CCs. Please, let’s back off a bit, and let them work through things without having to feel pressured to prove themselves as the Next Big Thing.
Yes Audrey looked very nervous here even at nationals where they did okay. I thought they would do ok Of course we never know what is going on behind the scenes

looks like anxiety or something similar, their FS was nice in the idea but is a pity that some throw jumps with falls and things wasn't the expected , their green color is nice

Deanna and Maxime FS , was great and that no so clean triple salchow ,their FS was beautiful like a masterpiece and Riku and Ryuichi was amazing ,very classy FS and some dynamic elements execution rhythm like music and they are very sync really

I'm not sure it's the same kind of push for Audrey and Balazs. I think it's more a case of providing occasions for them to compete internationally, to allow international judges to know them. But what do I know.

Exactly as was done with Kam/OShea when they first teamed up. And for the same reasons, I believe.

Nothing negative about either team, not saying they don’t deserve extra support or anything like that; just how it seems to me.

One thing I've noticed is that Ellie and Danny get level 4s. In the SP on (thursday?) they were the only pair to get all level 4s. Even in the FS, they got all 4s but one 3, for the death spiral I think. That helps them a lot, but I admit I'm not as enamored of them as all the judges seem to be. Then again, I'm influenced by vastly preferring beautiful clean(ish) skates rather than fancier transitions and such.

I'm probably over-influenced by the pro-am events that are common in ballroom dance competitions -- I've danced in those with my teacher quite often -- but I've been seeing these two for a couple of years now and they still don't look like a pair of equals. To me they always look right from the opening pose like a coach encouraging his nervous pupil while he skates pairs moves with her.

yeah, that's another thing that disturbs me. Not because of the age difference, but because he's treating her like a student, somewhat. I really think if a partner is going to encourage his or her partner, it should be invisible to anyone else ... like squeezing the hand. Otherwise, it just creates a wrong feeling.

Yeah, you may be right ... the same logic/justification was used.

I thought it was very clear that they just weren't ready for this level of competition yet. It was painful, and I actually agreed with the commentator that I hope it wasn't too scarring. Something like this can psychologically set a team back. The needed some more B or C competitions to cut their teeth on.

Don't forget the meteoric rise of Chan and Howe. They clearly got a huge push from the U.S. Fed right out of the gate. To be fair, they were emerging when pairs was in a slump for a few years, so that helped them immensely as well.

I thought Lia and Trennt were significantly improved at this championship and this is the first time watching them where I thought they could challenge for top 5 in the world. They are finally starting to gel as a pair rather than two singles skaters on the ice. They are the pair that most impressed me this week. Good for them to continue to ride the wave of momentum they created at Nationals where they beat Deanna and Max in the FS.

USFSA never learns from their mistakes; they are always pushing new skaters and teams that show potential at Nationals out at major championships before they are ready for such a pressured spotlight and it continues to burn them. A new team should get experience competing at numerous challenger B events before being thrust into their first ISU championship with only months of training under their belts.

I wonder if USFS is foreseeing they could get three Olympic spots but not have three decent pairs to send. It seems to me there’s a lot of pressure on such a brand new pair. They said in an interview prior to 4CC they are hoping to get sent to the Olympics.

I'm not convinced the USA will get three spots... Just at 4cc, they finished with 9 points, meaning, if things stayed exactly the same, they could only get passed by two teams from Euros. We expect already the Italians, the Germans and the Georgians to be in front. Of course, it will be a brand new competition, but it does illustrate the difficulty in achieving 13 points in this current field
