2025 Four Continents Pairs Short Program

I finally decided the display was showing a sample of Korean culture, because I really wasn't getting the point of the pile of books until I figured they were representing knowledge or literature. Otherwise you start to wonder: "Do they think a skater or coach sitting there wants something to read while waiting for the marks?" or: "Maybe it's copies of the ISU rulebook, if someone wants to register an objection right away?"
The room is made to be like a 선비(traditional scholarly ruling elite)'s room, a 선비 will have books in his room along with fine vases and a fan

The Japanese team was phenomenal
You can see Meagan’s influence with the team. I sensed they would go for 3Lz throw and they did. She is always pushing the envelope technically

Lia and Trentt!! 🤩
(Best Canadian team)

Max and D….. that SP program is so bad. Hate that remix of Beyoncé
(Some minor mistakes)

Will be a nice battle between Canada and USA for free skate

for once, i was happy getting to the stream during zambo.... :) got myself a salad and preparing other things to eat during this long night... I cannot stay up all night though because i have a training session tomorrow morning but i am trying for 2/3 of the events.
I was going to do pairs and dance easily in Pacific time, but my cat seems to have other ideas. He's getting the message across that I should now ditch the laptop and do something more useful. Like feed him, scritch him, recite the list of his beautiful features and parts, etc etc etc. I may be able to see the later groups in dance at least if I can sneak back later to the computer.

Maybe Deanna and Max can change their music before Worlds? :palmf:. Just joking, but that music is NOT good! She's so fiery, and there is zero fire there.
The costumes don't help either, for me. I get the point of the grey, but......dull. And her dress looks like it's missing a layer between the sheer stuff and her underwear. And I'm a fan! Takes a lot for me to carp at anything about them.

yeah... so many people complained about the LP... their LP is very fine... their SP... meh... bring back Oxygen !

They said there would be an opening ceremony, what's actually happening is the soon to be former KSU president saying a few words followed by another official's few words, and now mini games are happening. I came out of the rink because I could't stand the atmosphere

I hope GamezKorovin are in better condition than they were the last time I saw them… I was almost expecting a split announcement ngl
They’ve actually been much more consistent this year, but aren’t peaking in time for Olympic level. I would think that with all they’ve invested in this partnership they’ll last at least until the Beijing qualifier gives them a definite yes or no. And if Bella can get her jumps down it just might all come together. They have an otherwise solid set of elements and one of the best twists in the world.

Agree on the costumes. And I love them as a team! I've been a huge fan of hers since the days when Nate Bartholomay was her partner.

I felt like E/M had more speed and attack at US Nationals and they are capable of higher GOEs, but they got everything done. First time I've seen her land a triple toe cleanly! Deserved PB. Now for Efimova's former partner...

This was exactly my thought. Everything was satisfactory, don't get me wrong. No major errors.

But I thought it lacked that little something. Still, I think they've had problems with the short this season, so getting through intact might have been the goal. I know they didn't make the final group for the long, but they are nowhere near out of the medals.

I know you've been waiting for my analysis, so here it is.

The Japanese deserved to win this segment, even with the error on the SBS.

I think the GOE hit on K/O was not enough for that throw. That looked like it was almost a fall - it was certainly a major stumble. Except for that, I thought they were overall the best looking pair on the ice tonight. I like this short better than the Japanese. And I say that as not-that-big-a-fan.

I haven't reviewed the protocols, but my first impression is that Trent and Lia were underscored. Maybe there's something there I missed. I wouldn't be mad if they had been scored second in the segment.

I'd have placed Max and Deanna fifth and Alisa and Misha 4th, but I concede it would have been close enough that it wouldn't matter much.

I agree with almost everything you say.
I'd still have Max and Deanna ahead of Alisa and Misha... the latter are way too bland to contend with the top international teams...

I think Lia and Trennt were underscored a bit, and Ellie and Danny were over scored a bit on some of the elements like the throw and the SBS spin and jump.

Max and Deanna are behind because they didn't get their levels on the BODS which is uncanny. Of course, they had two small mistakes but those mistakes were not that costly.

I am glad and relieved though that RR got that Q on her 3toe.. it's obviously short on rotation and they shouldn't get away with such a mistake... and sometimes, they do.

Alisa's triple toe coming through earned them their SB, but they're capable of doing everything else better. That's actually pretty encouraging, because it means there is still room for improvement! Overall, they are less than 2.8 points away from silver though I suspect Kam/O'Shea won't have the meltdown like they did at US Nationals, and at least one of the Canadian teams will put up a strong performance.

I also really enjoyed the Australians today and the third Canadian team from Quebec.
Was hoping to see a bit stronger from Shin/Nagy, but it's early days still.

My heart is breaking a bit for Deanna and Max. This is really not their season so far...and from a psychological perspective they would have needed two clean skates really badly. This can't just be Max's illness still bothering him or her accident that she apparently had before coming to Seoul. I feel like something is messing with their heads and I hope they can figure it out soon. I mean better now than next season but I hope this doesn't carry over.
