Looks like the fog is a lot worse today. You can only just about see the curling targets next to the camera, and can't see the markings at the far end of the rink at all. I know these are younger skaters, but it is nearly up to their knees!

I hope it disperses as the day goes on.

We start with İdil Rubab BİLEN (TUR) who, as you may remember, won the 🥈 Silver Medal in Basic Novice III at the Ephesus Cup in January, just five days after losing three relatives in a fire disaster that led to skating at the second day of the event being delayed until the end of a national day of mourning.

I am still in awe of her for even taking part, never mind nearly winning the thing.

Back to the present, and she was skating to a spooky programme, so the fog today added to the atmosphere of her programme.

Unfortunately, she had a fall, and was nearly hidden by the fog!

She goes into the lead. Obviously.

The first four skaters were all wearing black dresses. Skater #5, Ali̇sa SİRER (TUR), went to the other extreme and wore a white dress. And between the ice, the boards and the fog, you could barely see her! :drama:

It's a pity, because she was clearly good, going into 2nd position.

The sixth skater, Nil YURTSEVEN (TUR), was wearing a lime green dress, and skating to Christina Aguilera.

She was sitting on her own to get her scores. But she seemed happy enough.

She goes into 4th position.

And the skater following her, Misra Eliz UYSAL (TUR) is a withdrawal, so we are starting the Group 2 Warm-Up just over 10 minutes earlier than scheduled!

It may be at my end, but the stream was coughing and spluttering during the first skater of Group 2, #8 Melissa YAVUZ (TUR).

Didn't like her music at all. But I do like her dress. It's like something you would see an actress wearing to premiere, or an awards ceremony. A silver dress with a tutu that has a massive sticky up thing on her left shoulder while her right shoulder is uncovered.

She seems very happy waiting for her scores.

She goes into 8th position.

And we have another withdrawal. Skater #9, Leyla TURGUT (TUR). So we go onto the second of our foreign skaters, Alina GRIGORYEVA (MON).

CaroLiza_fan

Oh, boys. I don't know anything about, but this little girl is going to put Monaco back on the skating map.

I know there have been guys, but have there been any girls representing Monaco since my kid Alexandra de Hanovre a decade ago? I can't think of any. But this girl here looks promising.

Alina GRIGORYEVA (MON) is so tiny. But so good!

She goes into 3rd position.

Hey, skater #10, Roza SIMSEK (TUR), has pinched the dress Jade HOVINE (BEL) was wearing in Seniors yesterday!

Actually, I know I am joking, but it is not beyond the realms of possibility. Roza is one of the older and taller skaters in this competition.

She goes into 6th position.

The last of the foreign skaters, Laila MIZOKAMI (FRA), takes over 3rd position from the girl from Monaco.

Now I'm curious to see how they did at French Nationals last season. Assuming they both competed there, and at the same level.

Right, that's something for me to find out during the resurfacing.

I'm trying to decide whether Masal BURGU (TUR)'s programme was an Olè 💃 programme. I'm not sure.

She was wearing a black dress with a red belt. And she was good.

Judging by the cheers of the audience, I take it she is a local girl.

She goes into 2nd position.

CaroLiza_fan

I had to laugh when Ela Su ATEŞALP (TUR) lay down on the ice for her closing pose. She was wearing a wishy-washy blueish-white dress that was already blending in with the surroundings. So, there was no need to hide in the fog.

She goes into 12th position.

CaroLiza_fan

And we finish with our first "Voilà" of the event. But it is not the version we are used to. It is an orchestral version where Barbara is doing a lot of wailing.

Sofia BOLAT (TUR) is wearing a white dress which really does blend in well with the surroundings.

Another tiny little girl that is really good!

Again, judging by the audience, I take it that she is a local girl. I just checked, and she does belong to the same club as Burgu. So, I take it it is a club from Ankara.

She goes into 6th position.

CaroLiza_fan

Right, a resurfacing now, and then a group of Advanced Novice boys.

There were so many withdrawals from the girls, and we rattled through those that were there so quickly, that we finished 40 minutes before the boys are scheduled to start.

So, assuming that the boys are starting at the scheduled time, see you in 35 minutes from now.

CaroLiza_fan

Boys are starting their Warm-Up.

I may have counted wrong, but I think there are six boys on the ice rather than the seven that are entered.

CaroLiza_fan

What a way to start the competition!!! Sarp ALISBAH (TUR) is skating to "Also Sprach Zarathustra"!!!

Not sure what the rest of the music was. But, it sounded good through the echoes.

The audience really showed their appreciation at the end!

And rightly so. A great start to the competition.

CaroLiza_fan

Oh, it looks like the second skater, Tiber SİRER (TUR), is the withdrawal.

And just when I was teeing up to say that unless there is the mother of all coincidences in when they were born (or the ISU have made a mistake in their Bios), he is the twin brother of Ali̇sa SİRER (TUR), who is currently third in the girls competition after the SP.

CaroLiza_fan

"Hey Pachuco! You're not waring the right colour!"

Dağhan YILMAZ (TUR) was not wearing a yellow suit. He was wearing black trousers, a white shirt, and a green waistcoat.

But he was good!

He goes into the lead.

CaroLiza_fan

Sorry for not commenting about skater #4, Ateş AHISKAL (TUR). I choked on a bit of apple.

He went into 3rd position.

CaroLiza_fan

A thing struck me while watching the fifth skater, Uras BAYTAR (TUR). He is very fast rotating when he is up in the air. But then he has problems with the landing.

He is wearing all black. And I loved his music.

He goes into 3rd position.
