2025 GP Finlandia Trophy: General Info and Pregame Chat

They didn't assign Samodelkina yet. Not that she can place high enough for the final with this comp though, seeing Loena will be competing closer to home, Amber is there and there are fresher Japanese women in droves.

Si it will be Sofia S. here then?
I don’t know about that, she refused other assignments and typically if you refused it meant you got removed from the alternate list.

It’s like how someone can WD from one assignment and then still pick up another later on.

She was injured, I guess that's why she refused...don't know if this counts as exceptional circumstances

Most people who w/d or refuse assignments do so because they are injured don't they?

I may be wrong, but I don't think Samo is eligible.

I forgot Sofia had skipped one opportunity. She was told by her coach she may still get one, but probably she does not know the rules, but the coach should, I think. Maybe he just forgot? I have started to like her this season when she turned to seniors, so it is a pity.

As a curious person I tried to understand the list. Japanese skaters will not be count, Livia Kaiser already had two? so has Ashun Yun got already two or is the spot hers?

Ashun Yun already skated twice.

Livia and Ahsun both already competed twice.

The 25-26 announcement covers the replacement rules on page 10. Injury is listed as one of the reasons a skater can refuse assignment on short notice.
That is unfair to those who got assignments up front.

You can withdraw from event 1, skate event 4 and get added to event 6 if someone else drops out.

If you withdraw because of injury it is what it is.

Sofia did not withdraw, but she turned down a spot because of injury and that spot went to the next in line.

It is confusing though because at the beginning of the document, it says :

Non-Seeded Skaters/Couples will not be invited to another event in replacement if they choose not to
skate in an assigned event.

Non-Seeded Skaters/Couples will not be invited to another event in replacement if, by medical reason,
they withdraw from an assigned event.

Then at the end, it talks about the replacement list. A skater in the replacement list is a non-seeded skater as well as a skater on the replacement list. The semantics are confusing.

But she turned it down because of injury the same way a skater assigned had to W/D.

That skater that W/D doesn’t go on to the replacement list if they get better later on. If they did, then it would be fair.

The only reason you should get to stay on the list if you refuse is VISA issues which are completely out of the skaters control.

But again, it should be fair for both those with assignments and those in the replacement list.

It doesn't work like that on the alternates list. Bombardier/Mimar were removed when they withdrew from Cup of China due to injury. If someone withdraws from their assignment, they aren't added back to the alternates list.

I do wish that the list was updated since they're the only example I have of that and I want to see if Samodelkina was kept on it.

I agree it doesn’t work like that, hence B/M are removed.

It should be the same for Samodelkina.
