Looking at Haruna: 1)such a good hairdo, 2) I always think what could she have done in pairs with someone closer to her in age

This was by far the best I've ever seen Haruna jump, her opening passes were super strong and she's one of few women in this event with a backloaded 3+3. She was getting way more pop and height into her jumps tonight. This program is a little disjointed but it's kind of fun, I do wish Haruna had performed a little more but she did check out to focus on the jumps and that worked out very well for her.

Murakami completely throws away the faster part of the music. Why use that cut if you’re not going to do anything with it?

Why would you change music mid skate into something dynamic if you are not moving a single part of your body... Awful music choice and entire choreo.
Shame because technically it was solid.

I believe she can still do it. She just needs to find a suitable partner at this competition.:wink:She has the pairs girl energy, her 3S and 3T are great.. while the harder jumps are just so so. She's a fighter.

That was a fantastic four minutes! Sumika is such a delightful and charming performer well beyond her 13 years of age. Her jumps have great pop and look really effortless, so I'm so excited to see her over the next few seasons. Her 3A was under but she did well to stand up on it, and she also successfully navigated some jump math issues with her opening lutz which is so impressive at her age. omg and she's ending the senior version of her free skate with the Japanese version of You Can Fly? That is such a great choice for the end of this program!

I imagine in gym class at school the other girls discussing who got their periods(we sooo did that then), and Sumika interject '....by the way I am doing 3 Axels', and they all gasp....probably not true, but I have wild imagination:cheeky:

Kanizawa has a lot of charm and skates her age. It’ll be interesting to see how she develops over the years. She also gets good hang time on her jumps. The telegraphing on the 3A - and she seriously should just do a 2A - is distracting.

Sumika!! That 3A was downgraded.
I still can’t believe she is only 13!!
Good job!!

JSF is brutal with the Junior PCS scores
I think it's just because JSF overvalues SS and particularly speed ( not that they aren't important but they shouldn't determine all PCS marks) and juniors ( with a few exceptions) don't have that even if they are charming like Sumika.

oh noooo Rion :(. She was doing so well in practice and I think she just got in her head again. This program is so good and Rion is such a fantastic skater, but this has been a really rough competition for her. Sending her a lot of hugs. :ghug: I'm proud of her second-half comeback with the two combos, she was fighting all the way throughout.
She has lost her momentum, like Elyce Lin-Gracey last season, as the season goes on

Another great free skate from Mei! This wasn't quite as strong a skate as the one she had at the Final, there were some tight jump landings and a few minor rotation things, but it would also be hard to match her brilliance at that event here. I really don't envy JSF in picking JWorlds spots, all of the girls so far are skating so well.
