2025 JGP Abu Dhabi Women's Free Skate

So JGPF Qualifiers:
  1. Mao SHIMADA (JPN) - 15+15=30 (400.24)
  2. Yujae KIM (KOR) - 15+13=28 (395.96)
  3. Mayuko OKA (JPN) - 15+13=28 (383.39)
  4. Mei OKADA (JPN) - 15+13=28 (380.66)
  5. Sumika KANAZAWA (JPN) - 15+9=24 (374.18)
  6. Yuseong KIM (KOR) - 15+7=22 (357.38)
Alternates:
  1. Hana BATH (AUS) - 13+9=22 (371.14)
  2. Seojin YOUN (KOR) - 13+9=22 (354.86)
  3. Sophie Joline VON FELTEN (USA) - 11+11 (377.59)

(I hope I didn't mess up anywhere, but I'm mostly confident that these are the actual final standings.)

Hana's jumps are huge, and her rotation speed-wow. She could easily do a quad jump. Only issue with Hana is lack of leg flexibility, and she should dump the attempt at a spiral and attempt at a spread eagle. (both kind of ugly) There are other things you can do for the choreo seq. (ask Trusova.lol). Also loved Inga, hope she continues to recover and we see her at Jr.Worlds.

I’m now spending way too much time lamenting that Mao’s last name isn’t Oshimada. Well, I guess this way Kanazawa doesn’t stand out so much. Symmetry….

Thank God it's not Oshimada. It's hard enough to tell them apart as is....

One of the delights of watching the juniors this quadrennium has been seeing skaters like Shimada, Gurgenidze and Kaljuvere move from solemn, stolid little technicians to proficient, engaging performers. Looking forward to their moving up to seniors!

She already videoed her quad toe loop! Even one of her lutzes had room in it.

Every qualifier has won a Gold medal, I think that is really cool!

Also Yuseong and Yujae - they finally get to go to a grand prix final together! 🙌 🤗

I hoped Shimada would either be beat at last or Youn drops to 5th to have either Bath or Von Felten in the final. Both would be even better. Well, maybe next year.
