2025 JGP Bangkok Pairs Free Skate

Every time I hear the name "Beau", I think of this guy:

Beau Brady, pictured with the lovely Bec Cartwright, who I had a massive crush on back in the day. I was gutted when she married Lleyton Hewitt.

It is a gender neutral name...

I guess you have never heard of Bo Derek, to name only one.

It sort of bugs me because for 1) the info that it's a boy's name is false
2) Beau didn't choose her own name.

Yes, I've heard of Bo Derek. But, I never thought of it as being the same name as "Beau". For a start, it's spelt differently!

That said, I actually got a surprise there. I always thought Bo Derek's "Bo" was short for something. But, it's just a stage name she took.

Like most people, I always thought it was "Belle" for a girl, and "Beau" for a boy. But, it appears not.

See, that's a few things now that I've learnt from this conversation.

Second JGP, first JGP season. JGPF qualifications will be funny business in pairs again this season :D
Might be also very simple

1Ava KEMP / Yohnatan ELIZAROVCAN1515301355.342228.73115.49126.6126Q
2Rui GUO / Yiwen ZHANGCHN1315S281329.172206.76105.47122.4127Q
3Reagan MOSS / Jakub GALBAVYUSA99S184291.142182.2891.49108.8627
4Sofia JARMOC / Luke WITKOWSKIUSA311S143274.992171.7494.66103.2527
5Xuanqi ZHANG / Wenqiang FENGCHN13X132160.76199.9299.9260.8411
6Jazmine DESROCHERS / Kieran THRASHERCAN13X132160.651101.61101.6159.0412
7Clelia LIGET-LATUS / Allan Daniel FISHERFRA75125253.952157.5680.4396.3926
8Naomi WILLIAMS / Lachlan LEWERUSA11X113159.631101.50101.5058.1311
9Julia QUATTROCCHI / Etienne LACASSECAN11X113146.67193.4593.4553.2215
10Yuxuan CHEN / Yinbo DONGCHN9X94132.60185.3085.3047.3011

The logic would have it that Zhang/Feng and Desrochers/Trasher pick up the first two spots in Poland.

That would confirm their Q.

11 points would be remaining for third place. Two teams already have 11 points. Williams/Lewer and Quatrocchi/Lacasse.
One team, Chen/Dong has 9 points.

Considering the scores, if logic is respected, Williams/Lewer would take 11 points and qualify with 22 points. Quatrocchi/Lacasse would take 9 points and qualify with 20 points.

Moss Galbavy only have 18 points and would end up behind.

If logic is not respected, then of course, it will be messy but there is a wide range of scores among the teams competing so it's hard to imagine that one team will show up and snag a big chunk of points away from the contenders.

The only bit that could be interesting is if Chen and Dong score 9 points. Then, there would be a tie breaker between them and Moss/Galbavy based on scores. Right now, it would look like Moss/Galbavy would take it. But that only works if either Williams/Lewer or Quatrocchi/Lacasse place lower than 5th... because in 5th place, with 7 points + 11, they still win the tiebreaker.

Or of course, if Chen and Dong win bronze and get 20 points... Then they would knock out both Moss/Galbavy and one of the lowest ranked at Poland between WIlliams/Lewer and Quatrocchi/Lacasse... But they would need a much higher score than what they achieved in their first event, which is obviously not impossible.

So really, it will be extremely hard not to have :

Kemp/Elizarov
Guo/Zhang
Zhang/Feng
Desrochers/Trasher
Williams/Lewer
Quatrocchi/Lacasse

Of course, ice is slippery :)

There are alternative spelling for many names. Bo and Beau are interchangeable in spelling and in gender :)

Maybe closer to you, Beau Gadson.

You should have a look at my posts from the pairs short program.

Oh, don't I know it with the different spellings. Irish names are notorious for having a lot of options for spelling them. :rolleye:

But I didn't know about Bo and Beau being the same. But now I do.

Didn't recognise the name, but I do recognise the face. (I watched "The Railway Children Return" a few months ago).

I did. That was how I knew about the discussion.

That first post was me stating my own position on it (and trying to provide some eye candy for those that would appreciate it. ;) )

But, you've converted me.

well,

there are a few teams who could spoil my whole analysis though they would no qualify themselves for the finals.

How are the Ukrainians doing?

Are Télémaque/Coulon feeling better ? The other French team (Erhard/Pellegris) could also pick up some points.

But yeah, maybe I just want Jula and Étienne to qualify so I am putting blinders about the what if logic wasn't respected :)

This is why they should have the Podium Ceremonies straight after the competition.

It's 22:20 and these poor folks have been waiting around over 6 hours, from 16:00 this afternoon, to get their moment of glory, not to mention their medals and pink elephants.

Oh, hang on. The boys are getting blue elephants with tusks!

Kinda spoils my plan to post this again:

Pink Elephants On Parade
