2025 JGP Bangkok Women's Free Skate

I always find it funny when they play "Thunder", and it reaches the lines:

And we will end up in the hall of fame
Let's get ready for a drinking game
So come and sip it 'til the last drop

Sounds like the song was written for GS members!

Bath should have had a podium today but can only blame herself. But wow, what a performance. She just had to jump a single 3F not add that 2T and then jump the sequence the very next element, very easy bronze.

Shimada was really off the 4T was not close, the 3A was a big underrotation (tech panel missed this of course just gave it a q), popped the 3T on the combo jumping a 2T. It's probably going to get harder for her if she grows (which I presume she will). She could just be out of form or just working her way slowly into the season, she just has to make it to the GP final then peak there.

At almost 17, it's not too likely that she will have a big (vertical) growth spurt in the future. There are exceptions (Kimmy Repond had a big growth spurt at 17), but many of the Japanese skaters are Mao's height (Hana, for example, is only 3 cm taller, Mone 4 cm).

Shimada started in less than ideal form last season as well. It could be that she takes a longer break than others so she could get into seniors with less accumulated trauma. Anyway, we'll see by the end season.

Home again from the Tetons and Minidoka internment camp museum....
Thanks to everyone who rooted for my Korean and Japanese skaters!!!
Excellent comp!

(Interestingly, our tour guide at Minidoka is very interested in Kristi Yamaguchi's grandparents experiences at the camps so I am sending them the USFS article....He said skating was just as big a sport at Minidoka as it was at Heart Mountain...
No country for old men
