They look very solid for a new team with a partner who is completely new to ice dance. They survived the twizzles, but that was the one element where you could really see his inexperience and that they aren't yet completely used to each other.

Mark is making me think of Ashlie and Louis as kind of an ice dance version of "The Cutting Edge" film which I think was from the '90s. So in keeping with the theme.

"Moving On Up" by M People was slowed down. I don't like it when they do that. Better to find a song that is the speed you want!

I have to admit, I felt very uncomfortable with the very low neckline of Ashlie's dress and the amount of cleavage she was showing. Having been a fan of Ashlie since she was a little girl, I don't think I will ever get used to her growing up. But that is normal for me with people that I first came across when they were children.

Not bad at all for their competitive debut.

They go into 3rd position.

That reminds me. I found out a few days ago that there is a girl in Donegal (the county directly west of my county, but in Southern Ireland) that does oil paintings of skaters, and sells all sorts of things with the images of her paintings on them.

And much to my surprise, she has done a painting of one of my kids!

So, here is Marilena Kitromilis on the cover of a notebook:

I am seriously tempted to buy one. Not only because it is of one of my kids, but because it was done by a fellow skating fan from Ulster. There aren't many of us. We need to support each other!

The amount of money we can lay out on our favourite skaters and merch is eye-opening. And if you're like me, you don't regret a cent of it.

Really loved Jasmine with her former partner in Novices, so happy that she's back in competitions now. The twizzles ate him a bit, but the rest was again very good for a new team. I feel like I will be saying that one a lot this season, oops.

Nothing really inspiring so far, I'm getting sleepy. Costumes are mostly awful. Music choices very safe and obvious. Counting on Dania and Theo to bring some charm and energy.
