2025 NextGen Competition | July 17-20

Auréa Cinçon-Debout / Earl Jesse Celestino - 77.25 / 122.75
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Soundtrack

So many soundtracks today. Fun program, shame about the twizzles. Aurea somehow looks exactly like her brother, but also nothing like him.

Olympia Kalaganis / Émile Deveau
- 68.55 / 115.13
The Most Beautiful Boy (Felsmann + Tiley Reinterpretation), Let it Be?

Love the movement of the skirt and this dark plum colour. The program is okay, though it almost feels more like two programs put into one to me. They're nice to watch in terms of their movement quality, and without the mistakes, the overall picture might be clearer.

Summer Homick / Nicholas Buelow
- 83.78 / 135.29
Unchained Melody/The Love Inside (Ghost - The Musical)

Pretty program, very sensitive and emotive. I love the pastel colour and the movement in her skirt, though I'm not sure about the two-toned thing, it honestly just looks like a bad ombre.

Charlie Anderson / Cayden Dawson - 82.55 / 134.47
Leave a light on

Her dress reminds me of Gabi's 2017/18 Moonlight sonata dress, beautiful in its simplicity. Charlie, in particular, is very expressive, and this was very well done (except for that small twizzle bobble). A much improved team after skating together for a season

Layla Veillon / Alexander Brandys - 87.31 / 148.47
Four Seasons Recomposed by Max Richter

These costumes are art. Obviously, the class of the field, and if they keep skating like this, potential Jr Worlds medalists. The door is wide open.

Layla seemed a bit tentative (one foot section, she put her foot down, had a balance issue in the second twizzle section and was in general cautious) but i think it's just because it's so early in the season.

they will win this by a landslide
They undoubtedly earned it, but I actually liked Homick/Buelow better.

i can go even further... think Josée Chouinard... think Joannie Rochette... think Cynthia Phaneuf :) all lutzy gals ;)
Rochette was totally a flip girl. Even tried 3flip-3toe in the short one year (downgraded). Originally had a horrendous flutz, but reworked it later in her career successful.

Summer and Nick's program is easy to relate to... I think Layla and Alexander's is a bit too artsy for a first watch.... it will probably grow on me and perhaps on others too as the season gets deeper...

For me the kicker here was the RD. Homick/Buelow were so messy... quite a huge contrast with the FD but the harm was done for me ;) until next time because i am sure they will improve that RD

really ? ok... i can stand corrected ;) i always admired her lutz combo in the short though it wasn't a 3-3 i thought it was pretty solid compared to her solo flip... i never doubted her lutz... maybe it's because i only remember her later years and not the earlier ones ;)

Are you implying I'm shallow? Guilty as charged!

I even liked the Berserk Beethoven/Disco music in the pairs short!
i was implying that we could follow the story right away... same with the Carandiucs for instance...
