2025 Skate to Milano Men's Free Skate

For some reason he's really intented to skate with 5 quads. It has already happened before that he bombed because of a very unreasonable layout.

In my opinion, the 4Lo is the unnecessary one because it takes a lot of effort, and he has never actually rotated it.
Totally agree. His 4Lo is always UR, and here I think it really sucked the energy out of him, and he missed his last combo which I suppose would have been +3Lo+2Lo.
He only got 6.60 for his 4Lo here. A triple instead, and ending with a good combo, plus more choreo would make this program better. And would be a lot less riskier.

Petr. Nice outfit and program. Really good skate.
Was it? I remember watching him before the Russians were ousted and I was impressed with him then, but this free skate here was just blah. The program was boring, and he was shaky on some of the quads. I don't see him as an Oly medal contender at all. Yuma would have to fall flat on his face on most of his jumping passes to ever lose to this guy. Maybe it was not his best? Also, what's with the ponytail? It looked ridiculous bobbing around during his SP. I really expected much more from him after all the Russian hype. I'm not hating on the guy, it's just what I saw was not at all intriguing.

To be fair, how many podium contenders have started the season with one (or more!) blah performances? (Answer... more than we care to recall).

Well, you're more than welcome to see how he ended his last season:

I think he might get run over by someone in addition to Ilia and Yuma:

Just catching up with the scores and some of the skates. Didn't expect Petr to struggle that much. Artistically, nice posture and nice gliding flow, but sadly no much more there. He was thinking all his moves, not feeling them so there was very little to no emotional connection to his skating :frown: (also, his FS is indeed the same than last season, but hasn't the choreo be simplified? I don't know, I just hadn't really noticed before that the choreo is mostly just arm movement, seemed a somewhat more balanced program ). And then even his tech failed him.... :frown::frown:

Men skating is my favorite discipline so I'm really really hoping that we get some sort of viable competition at the Olympics, so we can enjoy an exciting, truly competitive event. Of course it's very early in the season, but so far it seems that quite a few people who could potentially provide this (and the list is not that long to start with) are either injured or struggling, or dealing with (in some cases chronic) inconsistency, or all of this together 😢 Fingers crossed things turn around before Milan! 🤞

Also, too bad for Davide, the skater from Monaco; 5th in the SP and 5th in the FS, but 6th overall ! Must be hard for him to miss out on such a slim margin. Best wishes to him that he bounces back.
Davide's artistry is something special. He should be thrilled with how well he did. Of course we love Donovan's charm but boy was he lucky he had such a good short. Just afew changes of opinion and he would be staying home. I didn't know what to expect from Petr. I do wonder about some of his quads ie the loop but he could sneak in for an olympic edal. You just don't know. If he goes clean at the olympics and skaters like Yuma and the Japanese make mistakes as they have he could climb on that poidum. I htink he will have a huge disadvantage. He like Petrosian can't gain traction as we ma never see them again until the olympics.

That's not how he ended it, though. This was how. But I think he needs to ditch the 5 quads and go back to the previous layout

Because of the instability from event to event or what? Do you have a link to the previous layout?

The skatingscore link has it. His fs is the same from last season. He already tends to get calls on his jumps, so I don't think adding a 5th quad is worth it at all, especially if it means simplifying the choreo. Just makes the program worse and limits his artistry. Hopefully he'll decide to play it safe after the scoring here
