2025 Skating Club of Boston Summer Sizzler | Aug 14, 2025

I thought the unexpected music video with Michael Parsons singing and cameos by many skaters was a really creative way to add to their performance, and I might like to see more of that sort of thing at ice shows. I could not tell if Michael was singing or lip syncing, but either way, he did a good job!
He was lip synching. They were doing an homage to how they staged that song in the recent revival of Sunset Boulevard. They did that number at the Nationals gala, too, and we've since gotten to see it because On Ice Perspectives posted it.

Here's the inspiration from an award show:

Nationals Gala:

Of the programs that I'd never seen before, the ones that stood out to me the most were Caroline Green & Michael Parson's with the creative music video intro and Andrew Torgashev's FS. I also liked Christina Correira & Anthony Ponomarenko's RD.

Although the decades theme for RDs has not been all bad, in my opinion, I grew tired of how fast paced and busy most of them were (even though they were often performed very well). Christina & Anthony's new RD had a different general character and was not as fast and busy. So it was a nice change. Of course, if they all turn out this way then it will no longer stand out. So we'll see.

Torgashev's FS was a definite highlight! It was filled with creative choreography and reminded me of his last SP, which I loved.

I don't watch ice dance as much as singles, but Green and Parsons and CPom both look ready to go. They are likely positioning themselves to be the successors to Chock and Bates as the top US team.

I agree about Andrew, his FS was a real highlight at the show. Once the tech content is in place and he wears an actual costume, it should be all the more impressive in performance.

FigureSkatingLand here…I unfortunately have to delete my shorts and even my recap and analysis video of the Summer Sizzler. USFS came after me with a copyright removal request for my fan cam videos, even the recap video of me talking about each performance with my own videos of skating. I understood they could argue that the shorts take away views from them, but I was surprised they went after my analysis and recap video. So enjoy it all for the next couple of days because I’ll be taking it down on Wednesday.

Thanks for letting us know. I have enjoyed your YT channel. I wonder why USFS would go after fam cam and recap videos? I can understand restricting whole programs with music if there are copyright issues, but analysis videos are different. Maybe they want everyone to have to pay for Peacock.

Unless I missed something, I don't think that the cast has been announced yet. Since it is in Boston and he been in it more than once before, hopefully Jimmy will be there.
