And Memola is totally gorgeous! Eye candy TOTAAAL!!Damn, he's tall.

I think the judges are doing Ilia an immense disservice with those PCS. They’re scoring him like he has practically no room for improvement when he clearly does and has improved in the past, but not by nearly as dramatic a margin as the scores would seem to indicate. And Ilia would still have deservedly held the lead with lower PCS! Judging like this makes it very hard to stay invested in this sport, for me.
A young guy crushes his short program. With a personal best and one of the top five scores ever. Rowdy crowd cheering him wildly 20 seconds before his ending pose. World Championship, home ice, less than a year before the Olympics.Years ago, I watched one of the most amazing catches by a player to score a touchdown in Super Bowl history. It was my own team. I still marvel at it. After that catch, the player strutted down the sideline shouting, "That's how you be great!" while pounding his chest. I will always remember that catch, but I also remember the self-aggrandizement. I loathe it.
As for the judges you mention? It doesn't even matter. Ilia doesn't think he needs improvement - he told us so. Actually, he shouted it. Right on camera. "That's how you do it!" Those words were too easy to read coming out of his mouth after he got up from his ending position on the ice. If anyone has Peacock, they can rewatch it themselves.
I assure you, I still loathe self-aggrandizement in sports.
I find PCS incredibly important and has been the reason, all too often, that someone receives a "celebrated score" with skating skills that are anything but worthy of celebration.

And you're fretting that he was overly excited and proud of his effort?
I bet you're a lot of fun at parties.
You should block me. I'm certainly not going to remember you or your instructions.Don't ever post to me again. Thanks.
Actually the non-skating audience cannot tell a quad from a triple and even if, could not care less.... so even this merciful explanation does not stand...It looks like they are trying to judge the way non skating audience would understand. You jump quads=you get PCS (but remember to check if it's Misha, he can get more realistic PCS).
They aren't doing favour to the sport. They annoyed me, a fan since early 90... even judges in 6.0 system weren't that annoying.
