2026-27 Canadian Figure Skating

Emily Chaikin is an okay skater.
She finished 5th in PreNovice Nationals two years ago. This year though, she didn’t make it past ONT Sectionals to qualify for Skate Trophy at the Novice level.

Good starting point for David S though. The fact she can land the basic triples is a Good starting point.

I know David wants to start immediately into Juniors. So, hopefully, they impress Skate Canada enough to earn a JGP this upcoming season

What is going on with Louie Fukuda-Wu?
I found video of him skating at 2025-26 Chinese Taipei Nationals - Not sure what division though.

He switched representation around Easter last year and was on the JGP for Chinese Taipei after that (y)

One more question - who is Emily Proulx skating with?
Her name with no partner is on the list for CQE2026 Junior Danse

I checked Instagram, it looks like Morgan Laliberte-Laurent.
Of course Morgan has dual citizenship. But it seems like a very weird thing to skate for France when Émilie doesn't have French citizenship (I am assuming she doesn't). The L-L boys are driving me crazy.

With the GP assignments out, this is what the National Team should be if the criteria stays the same (podium at Senior Nationals and/or GP assignment, competing in the 2026-27 season):

Men
Stephen Gogolev
Aleksa Rakic
Wesley Chiu

Women
Madeline Schizas
Gabrielle Daleman
Minsol Kwon
Fee Ann Landry
Sara-Maude Dupuis

Pairs
Pereira/Michaud
Kemp/Elizarov
Desrochers/Thrasher

Ice Dance
Lauriault/Le Gac
Veillon/Brandys
Lajoie/Baker

I'm surprised SC didn't give La/Ba an assignment outright.
Who knows what they are thinking :). Could it be for Alicia and Marko ? Are they considering other teams like Fournier Zhu who may be ready earlier ?
I have no clue.
I like that they held on to one spot and pretty much now it means that the summer events are really important for skaters who do want that spot.

My biggest joy is the women's team.

Hi there!
Have I missed something and Minsol Kwon is already released by Korean federation? Or after two years of not competing internationally they just don't have any right to deny her release any longer?

I included her on the National Team because she automatically qualifies for it with her bronze at Nationals. If she is released to compete internationally and wants to be on the JGP, I expect that she'll be at NextGen in July.
