No Canadian entries for the Kinoshita Group Cup. I wonder what Skate Canada’s plan is to get our seniors out before GP series? I understand Cranberry is too early in the season but would love to see the strategy

They have been out to Quebec Champs, Glacier Falls, Wild Rose, Lake Placid Champs, Cranberry Open & NextGen. Only Maddie, Gaby, Minsol, KMS and Kaiya haven't been somewhere. A few others are missing due to injuries.
Yes, but the stated intention was for each of their GP skaters to do a Challenger before the GP. There are still a few they can be entered for. though.

Domestic competitions don’t replace ISU Challengers. Also men , ice dance and pairs need to go. Seems like an opportunity lost to skip Japan. Minsol and Gabby withdrew from Ontario Sectionals this week. I was hoping it was because they were going to Japan but now not sure why.

Minsol and Gabby were the two I was most looking forward to seeing what shape they are in.
Last season, Uliana scored 170+ to win the Quebec domestic event over SMD. It was followed by 160+ skates by Kaiya and Gabby. Which, weren’t high enough, and therefore, ended up in Uliana getting the TBD spot. This season, it looks like it will go to Breken as she pulled out a wonderful free skate to place second (behind Fee Ann, who has a Skate Canada spot already). She also scored 170+. So, if Gabby and Minsol don’t skate, I don’t see how they don’t give the spot automatically to Breken.
Edit: There is still the Souvenir Georges-Éthier event, and another Ontario Sectional Series event, both in September. I believe Skate Canada made the decision after these two events. So, maybe, Minsol and Gabby just need a bit more time to prepare and will skate at the second ONT Sectional series event. Right now, only Breken has surpassed the 169 domestic benchmark and she is skating everywhere. At this upcoming ONT sectional series and Souvenir too.

Also, David Bondar will be at ONT event. He is up against John Kim and Wesley Chiu there. Since Wesley already has a skate Canada spot, it looks like a John Kim versus David battle there. While, at the same time, Aleksa will be at the BC event. He needs to skate better than he did at the US domestic event (where he lost to David).
Anthony is also skating at Souvenir. I think the battle is between those four men for the Skate Canada TBD spot. If one of them score over 219, that would seal the deal.

For Junior Girls:
Hannah Quinn (who scored 145+ at Cranberry) could also nab the final JGP spot here, if she does well enough. Same with Chantal who was close to 145, at Next Gen. If Chantal skates over 145, at this event, she could nab the spot. These two girls are younger than 17, I believe. Skate Canada will probably decide after BC and ONT event.
I believe Lia Cho has two JGP spots. Victoria will get one, and the last spot is between Reese (who scored well over 160, with her 168 skate at Next Gen), Hannah, and then Chantal (if she skates over 145), and I guess Gabrielle over in BC (if she skates over 160 at the BC event)

Antho is coming back from injury. Eddy is also there. I think though, they will give it to BC boy Rakic. It would take a huge skate by John, David or Eddy to pass Aleksa for that TBD spot.
And yes, don't forget that BC, ONT and QC have two summer/early fall competitions. Often, skaters opt to only do the second one. So Gabby and Minsol are still in the running.
The TBD entries are due by September 15th, both those events are after it. They shouldn't play a part in how the spots will be decided.

There is a big difference between skating at "home" and performing internationally in front of judges from other countries. Not just controlling nerves but also convincing the judges to award better GOE and PCS - something that is influenced rightly or wrongly by reputation. I would hope that the domestic competitions would be used to assign Challenger events - and the results from Challengers are used to assign GP TBD spots.
Our young "B" tier senior skaters often have nerves internationally and underperform (as a result?) - and it has been written here that some of us think that is related to not getting enough international experience. It really harms skaters' development and undermines their confidence. So - get them out. Every competition is a golden opportunity to build experience and reputation. Skate Canada - for whatever reasons, has now missed two of those opportunities.
I would still give a JGP spot to Reese despite last week's less-than-optimal performance for her (unless Victoria places well then give her two). I love Hannah Quinn and she is coming back nicely this year based on the protocols from Cranberry, but perhaps better next year when (fingers crossed) Canada will have more spots. Chantel should have been sent to Cranberry if she is to be considered for a JGP slot. Not sure why she wasn't sent. Uxia is also improving but - like Chantel, no international spot.
Clearly, Skate Canada needs an advisory committee comprised of Golden Skate posters so they can make better decisions

LiLa have all the time in the world to take their time since they have to wait out a year before they can compete internationally. They probably are still fine-tuning their FD, so there's no rush to show it at this early point in the season. They made the statement they desired to make in their RD.
Of course, we would have all liked to see LiLa perform their FD. But it's not unusual for teams to not show both programs at this point in the season. I really enjoyed Fabbri/ Gaidajenko's RD. But their FD needs more work, and the music choice for their FD is not a standout.
I agree with the commenters who said Hannah is right now struggling a bit to keep up with Zach's superior speed and blade control. But they look really good together, so I'm sure they'll work it out. I think their classical take for the Golden Waltz is very smart and lovely. Zach is showing how neat and elegant he can be in opposition to Tanith's critique at Worlds, which was apt at that time.

If they hired me, so many skaters would get assignments that Skate Canada would be bankrupt in about 3-4 years

Definitely should hire one of us. We might be less expensive too and the salary savings can go to sending out more skaters to international assignments.
