2026 Canadian Nationals : Men's Long Program

Well done, David Li! :) That was a really solid skate, and I liked to see his passion at the end of the program (which hopefully he'll start being able to add in more throughout future programs). He's really neat and tidy; I just would like him to work on his spins more.

I hope that Anthony Paradis skate a good FS and somehow I would like that he ditch the triple axel from his program.
We have understand that it's close but not ready for competition.
I better see him with a clean skate than seeing him struggle in the FS just because his focus is to much on the triple axel.
At this point, especially when he is nowhere near the podium and has a lot of competitors challenging him for a junior world's place, it is the perfect time to be going for the axle. He needs to have it eventually, because at this point his technical content wouldn't even be notable in the junior women's category.

He needs to say, screw it, this is a developmental time, and I've been skating these exact same programs for a couple years now anyway, so I need to show Skate Canada that I'm at least working on the axel - you can't just rely on feathers, makeup, and extroverted choreography forever. Yes it's unique, but it loses its flare pretty quick when you're not showing progress, in at least attempting the harder tricks.

Really needs to get more elevation on those jumps. Some of them barely get off the ice, which is going to hurt some of the rotation calls.

well Grayson has handed off the JWC spot to David Bondar. It's up and only up to you David to grab it.
Not necessarily... David has had some pretty abysmal skates this year. He was terrible on the junior circuit this year - remember that performance when he was under- rotating almost all of his jumps?

I'm here for Keegan and wonder if this will be the last time to see him compete... again :) But of course I'll watch the other men as well. Looks like Grayson didn't skate well in the short and having troublesi n the free too. I'm a bit surprised. He'll be back!

If David skates well, he will get the nod. He also has a quad which Grayson doesn't have. I think they will pick the best score from Natiionals. It's not the Olympics here.. body of work doesn't count as much

I think he's trying to spin the triples too much. That makes his takeoffs a lot more suspect because he's not letting speed or momentum or elevation lead his jumps.
I was talking about his toe pick on simple steps. He nearly tripped in the way to the lutz, which he had to double.

I agree - what I'm saying is that there is no guarantee because the ice is slippery, as David has experienced this year already :-) however, I agree that the quad is going to help him if he can do it.

ouch those falls... tired? Nice applaud from the audiance... meaning David Shteyngart
