2026 European Championships Men's Free Skate

Ean WEILER (CHE) wearing a top that starts as white and fades to blue, and black trousers.

Really beautiful music.

Such a shame about the mistakes. Because it was beautiful otherwise.

He goes into 8th position in the FS, and 7th position overall.

A lot of the skaters seem to be really struggling for either stamina or air today. It's almost like they are skating at altitude, and they really aren't!
Outside of the simple but cleanish programs from the more mature skaters, this competition has just been very similiar to a junior men's event. I don't think those young men are doing their double runthroughs or practicing their spins much ;)

PS I will be grumpy until the caffeine kicks in.... I had a late night yesterday... drank some wine my student gave me for xmas that I was too sick to even consider drinking over the holidays... and well... I hadn't been drinking in a while and I slept very badly LOL.
I also blame @elektra blue because she was supposed to lend me her liver

Kessler and Zandron confirm they will retire at the end of the season in the post-skate interviews reported by goldenskate twitter account

Zandron:
“I am so emotional. It really couldn’t have been better for my last European Championships. It’s also a bit of a full-circle moment because 16 years ago I competed here in Sheffield at the Junior Grand Prix.
...
I mean, I will go to Worlds, but this was definitely a very nice and special goodbye at the European Championships

...
I do have my degree as a tax consultant and I will partly work in that field. But I also really hope to work as a choreographer, and I’m thinking of doing the exam to become a technical specialist. I would also love to participate in shows if any opportunities come up.”

Kessler:
I’m trying to enjoy this last season as good as I can. After Europeans, I will go on the tour again, trying to reach the world minimums. If I make it to Prague, it’s good. If I don’t make it, there’s a life after skating.
..

I’m so emotional. It was amazing to skate there. I’m just so honored to be able to skate on such a big stage in front of such an amazing audience. On the bus here, I started crying because I was so full of emotions. One reason was maybe that Carolina Kostner came and wished me good luck. I’m just really grateful.I mean, I hope this wasn’t the last one because I still hope to make the points for Worlds, but if it was the last one, it was a good note to finish on, on such a big stage.”
