Mei is skating to Miss Saigon - one of the saddest musicals
It reminds me a bit of my Polish grandma, whose brothers stayed to fight a war and who sent their young sister away. Maybe not the best musical for me to start today.

Hello everyone. The women were considerate enough to have their event start at a very decent time for me .... 9:40am here in Halifax. So, I got to sleep in on a Saturday and then get up and watch figure skating. My definition of a "good day." Good luck to all the competitiors.

That was mostly a redemption skate from Mei!!!! She didn't do the axel, but that was still a really good comeback and she will climb up several places. I love that choreo sequence, it's so subtle but has wonderful variety of movements and great musicality.

Skating to music from "Miss Saigon". I was really enjoying it until the vocals started. It got to the stage that I actually wanted to mute it when we had the two singers singing over each other.

But the skating was exquisite!

You can see she has mixed feelings waiting for the scores. Happy, but disappointed to be in this position in the first place.

This is going to lead for a very long time.

Nice skate by Mei, should climb quite a bit.
I just not get why skaters are pushed to attept at competition jumps that they can't complete in training. It's not going miracolously happen.

I like the music. But, again, it could have done without the vocals (at least they weren't overbearing).

And the skating was good.

You could see just how happy she was straight after she finished!

Hard to believe she is just 15 (turns 16 in 3 months from now). So mature!

She goes into 2nd position in both the FS and overall.
