Yikes, I wouldn’t have imagined that the 2nd Japanese team may not qualify for the FS, but this has been a very messy SP. 71.95 is their PB, but they won’t get anywhere close to that here. What a shame!

Yuna and Sumitada, not at their best but love their speed and determination. They never stopped fighting. Thx to the audience for their encouragement clapping and cheering.

This team is sooooooooooo good, I will not shut up about how much I love them and this program. They are one of the fastest teams in this event with superb ice coverage and they have improved so much on their twist since moving to Klimov's camp. This wasn't their best skate; I think the Olympic nerves got to them a bit, but I am sooooo glad they got this experience and the crowd rallied behind them. That lift literally gave me chills, that is close to a +5 element for me. I also love to see the reassurance from Sumitada towards his partner at the end of a tough night for her. It's okay kids, get it in 2030.

Disaster for Nagaoka and Moriguchi, such a shame, that fall on the SBS jump was very surprising, they are usuyao good at them. Now it will be hard for them to make the free given how strong the competition has been so far.

My Mom and Grandmother were fluent, oral and written; never taught us. But I recall them discussing stuff rapid fire.. made us laugh as kids! There is a guy on FB that has funny posts about the difficulty.. “Polish is basically spoken WiFi passwords”

Bummer - Japan #2 - she goes down on both 3loop and throw Sal. Too bad. This is probably one of my top five pairs short programs of the year. And they are just so dynamic and fast.

I wonder if it's worth doing the Triple Loop versus something a little bit easier? I mean, how much extra does it actually get them? One point? I feel like it should be worth more in pairs ...

Anyway, she looks very sad. You go there I get, as I close in on half a century, the more I just wish I could let young athletes, and young people in general, know that it's okay- what you're doing is great, so try to enjoy it, and be proud of the everyday.

He does know Ari Zakarian though! Not a single broadcast where he hasn't mentioned that they are best friends and how he knows whats going on in the Malinin camp.

I will never cease to be amazed that he didn't start out as a pair skater and yet has one of the strongest lifts in the field
