Well, the Germans earned it. Much better than the Georgian team.

I still think the Japanese pairs team will move up to either win or place 2nd tmrw.

Lia & Trentt (third place in SP 👏 🇨🇦)
Another breakthrough alongside with GoGo
The teams event has helped our Canadians so much. I think Lia & Trentt need to just focus on themselves and pretend they are not in a podium position. The Hungarians, Japanese and Italians will score big and they have to just ignore it. This is a good opportunity for them to finish in the top five and perhaps to score close to 210. I just hope they do at least an axel in their jump combo tmrw

I could but I have a 60 inch tv to watch it on. I know, first world problems.
Is your TV a smart TV? Hopefully it should have a plain web browser, try the CBC Gem website there (that's what I do). Some TV browsers do force us to download the app instead of just playing it in the browser, if that's the case you might need to try downloading different browsers for your TV from its appstore (annoying I know).

It might be easier just to plug in your computer to your TV using good ol' HDMI cable 😅 Hope you can figure something out!

The second-to-last pairs group is going to be more exciting than the last group here.

Sui/Han will pull a miracle and win a 2nd Gold. It's been an awful quaddrenial, they need to save it. Inject her with whatever banned substances are necessary, I don't care at this point, just make it happen. :wonder:

the difference is that what happened to the Japanese pair looks awful but he had a secure reaction which isn't as scary as seeing a guy with a tilted lift and unsafe footwork throughout the lift, which means that it could result in a very scary fall that cannot be secured by any reaction he would have.

I am constantly afraid when I watch him and it's been like this for a long time. It's about time someone calls it.
One of the CBC Gem commentators said she didn't like to see their technique in pairs elements rewarded that much, because he was setting a bad example of endangering his partner and getting away with it. She was afraid it might become a trend. I'm not into rabid fandom either positive or negative, but I really do not like the Georgian pair's technique and hope the FP judges are more critical of that.

(I don't like those little wriggling worms glued to her forehead either, but you don't lose marks for an unattractive hairstyle :what:.)

I am still not over how amazingly well it went for Lia and Trennt and how badly it went for almost all the contenders.

I am still not over some of the propping for the Georgians and Japanese. They should be lower.

Of course, there will be a lot of movement during the LP. The teams are very close. I don't expect Max and Deanna to climb up much. The reality is that they didn't have much preparation. The bummer is that the SP was going much better than anticipated and they had survive the release moves... the lift exit was just another freak accident. they just cannot get a break. However, I appreciated their reaction asking each other if they were okay when it finished.

I hope @DemTuppesSeine is surviving out there. Must have been scary to see all these lift mistakes from the venue.

Silver lining... I may be able to watch Max and Deanna before I go to work tomorrow... which wouldn't have happened if they had been ranked higher.

They have just done an interview with Deanna and she said that she hit her head in the training incident. @4everchan I know you said that the injury wasn't a head injury, but I am inclined to believe Deanna? I don't think she would have said that in an interview if it wasn't true,
They've been saying a head injury but not a concussion. That doesn't seem right to me. Whenever a head hits, a concussion is suspected and person has to be watched for what symptoms develop. Symptoms can be delayed or mild and go away. It's a wait and watch and see situation.

I have buyer's remorse with skating at this point.

Sui/Han have the best SP. Unfortunately, their fitness and perhaps coaching situation, prevented them from choreographing an equally good LP. Of course simply going by their SP, I'd still love for them to win.

Finally, a good performance from one of the favorites. Except for that random stumble in the step sequence, but at least she didn't go down.
It was very minor and barely noticeable. Hase/Volodin are deservedly in first place. Yay!

I think the judges did Conti/ Macii dirty. I wonder why they are scored so low. Low levels?

Riku & Ryuichi have power, speed, soft knees, and great ice coverage, along with wonderful choreographers helping them. But they skate over the music; they did NOT deserve high GOE on their twist due to obvious contact on the dismount. They get away with it every time. They did NOT deserve a high score on performance execution either.

Based on the scoring and on the gift-giving to certain teams, I would have Ellie & Danny in 5th, Conti & Macii in 6th. Then, Riku & Ryuichi in 7th, and Sui/Han in 8th, to be fair.

yeah that was Sandra Bezic. She even discussed it with Paul Martini (not on air) and he apparently has a list of everything that's wrong with Luka's technique.

you can have a head injury without the concussion and still need monitoring if your neck is very sore.

I think we should just respect Deanna's wish for privacy here.

She said there was a head injury but no concussion so we can go with that ;)

You love them, obviously. They are NOT at full strength, and were overscored here, which set the stage for scores trending so high with clean and cleaner skates.
