Great men's competition. If nothing scoring erratic.

Possible didn't like lock for title for ilia. Wanted to show nothing sure or lock in figure skating.
Ice is slippery even for quadgod.

The CBC commentators are coming to the stunning realization that they have a chance at bronze and are getting all excited, it's so cute
this is what happens when you get so bullied by the judges on the first day... and then, against all odds, the youngest competitor comes in and kills it and judges cannot do anything about it because others just don't deliver anything close to him...

So yeah... I am giddy too... and I will have a piece of cranberry orange bread coming out of the oven just now :)

I think that’s a fair result, Kagiyama was clearly the better tonight and is good value for his 10pt+ lead. Malinin look nervy and was a bit off, I still his PCS were a bit to high.

Bar Kagiyama, it was a nervy final group. There was a lot of pressure on those guys. Well done to Gogolev for delivering for Canada. I thought Egadze might have been behind Boyang, even though I really like his short, his jumps were a bit off. France were a little unlucky.

I'm thorn between him and Adam OGM wish. It really hurts :(
I am okay if Adam wins it too... I prefer Yuma for his skating skills and Adam for his flair... but this season, Adam's jumps have been inconsistent. So I am putting all my eggs in Yuma's basket

That was honestly the best men’s competition of the season. I know a lot of fans see the team event as low pressure, but it isn’t for countries that are in medal contention. There’s a big difference between competing with yourself and competing with teammates. No one wants to feel like they’ve let others down. That’s why some of the competitors were unusually nervous today. I think Ilia will be more relaxed in the individual.

Thoughts:
Hero of the Event: Stephen Gogolev. Canadians everywhere should be sending him flowers, Dessert-of-the-Month, etc.
Favorite: YUMAAAAA!!! What more needs to be said?
Kick in the Pants Award: Ilia. Kind of ragged today. That individual gold medal is not guaranteed. Take care.
Bummer Award: France. So close, so far. Will always wonder if putting Adam in the SP would have let them make the cut.
I suspect Adam refused to skate SP  because he didn't believe in Lorine

This is good for Ilia, to get the jitters out. It's his first Olympics.

I feel like I have no complaints with the rankings. I'd indeed put Egadze a sliver ahead of Jin, because of two quad attempts (Jin's own landings were not great, so...), even if PCS was whack there and should likely be flipped around... real problem to me are Cha's scores with a popped Axel, but what can you do.

Oh, and I guess if we're strictly talking about scoring and not ranks... Malinin and Grassl x infinity. Because no. Gogolev deserved lower too.

USA versus Japan for gold (1 point)
ITA versus Canada for Bronze (1 point)

If Nika and Gubanova were judged fairly, it should have been France into top 5
Nika had better jumps than Grassl. Real harsh on Nika no GOE on his combo

I don't think Gubanova has received a favour from the officials in her career, her q probably should have got a < but Schizas got away with an underrotation too (was still scowling in the kiss n cry though).

It's honestly wild how this is considered a "bad" skate from Ilia. Most skaters would kill to do what he just did lol.
Yes. Ilia this is a bad score. Even Yuma had more lower.
We are so used to 100 and above . We are stunned when he doesn't get it
Judges are harsh on him.
Celebrate when he does.

He is doing 4 competitions maybe wanted easy. Didn't skate his best .
