Here’s my take on the top 6 in the SP.

Ami Nikei. “I got a triple Axel, y’all — what you got?

Kaori Sakamoto: Queen of all she surveys.

Alysa Liu: Cool as a cucumber. “If you can keep your head when others are losing theirs…” you’ll go far.

Mone Chiba: A podium sweep for Japan?

Adeliia Petrosian: Mission accomplished. Firmly bunkered within firing range for her big LP guns.

Anastasia Gubanova: SP, check. Now do it again.

ISU judges. I am scouring the protocols for something to get angry about, but so far, zilch.

I feel bad for Amber - on the ice and off the ice. She's getting hit hard online by a bunch of animals. If she's smart, she'll stay offline and rest up for the FS. Benoit Richaud was talking about the toxic effects online posts are having on many skaters and I already watched a pack of dogs go after a different American skater. The Olympics is supposed to be a place where people from around the globe come together to compete with goodwill and try as they might to make their childhood dream come true. You'd think they could be free to do that without nuts getting online and shoving a metaphorical knife in their eye.

Rest up Ambam. Besides, Madonna loves you. I saw the video of her talking to you.

So happy for Ami! She is my pick to win it all, and I love her attitude. I was also very happy for Adelia putting out a strong skate. I can’t imagine the pressure she is under, and it seems she recently had some injures, so just skating cleanly is a win in my book. I’m not sure her quad(s) are ready yet for Olympic ice, I guess we shall see in the FS. I was disappointed in Sofia’s scores. I don’t see anything wrong with her spins, but I’m not familiar with protocol. It seems like such a silly thing to miss levels on spins though, I guess some skaters are just not great at them, or their coaches don’t emphasize them enough. I was so sad for Amber, she should have been up there in the top 4-5. I hope she can make it up in the free.

Same. I looked at protocols and there is very little 'blocks' standing out. Some national bias, as expected, with American judge doing a 6.0-era worthy underscoring on Petrosian. One 4 judges cluster occured in Levito's score but the countries are Korea, Israel, Kazakhstan and Romania, and they don't re-occur as scoring together. I expected more tbh. They might be saving the alliances for the free.

The top 3 breathtaking.

Ami Naki full of joy skating especially after triple axel landed.

Kaori Sakamoto grace on ice, surety

Alysa Liu wonderful, ecstatic, joy, gladness, excitement. Fliudity

Mone Chiba relief and calmness.

Adelina Petrosian unsure than sure. This is me . I am here. Grace , fluidity

Anastasia Gubanova wonderful.

Loena Hendrixk I did it. I still can .

Isabeau Levito lovely

Haein Lee wonderful. I got it

Nina Petrokina. I am a winner

Sofia samodekina I am glad I am here and did it.

Amber Glenn. Best triple axel u did yet.
Sorry about loop
Jia Shin great despite falls
All can be proud
All did great
Great show done
Great free skate show ahead

My favorite SP of this competition was Mone Chiba and Adelia Petrosian. I hope that both of them make the surprise and make the podium after the FS :)

Okay, I am all caught up. I really wanted to like Pinzaronne's program, but maybe I was just too tired to follow it.

My standouts were Samodelkina, Nakai, Hendrickx, Petrokina, Levito and Gubanova. Samodelkina was my favorite out of everyone, spins or no spins.

Still feel gutted for Glenn. And Haein Lee's dress deserves a separate medal.

I noticed the US judge underscoring on Petrosian and as an American, I'm embarrassed. I don't like Petrosian's style -- technically excellent, emotionally cold -- but that kind of judging is a disservice to the skaters and to the sport.

Only human. I accept human. What I don't like is conspiracies since it's premeditated and effing cold, and i didn't see it here. For now.

I’m going to be so glad when these Olympics are over. Amber popped a jump. It’s unfortunate, but no one died. Social media is going insane. If it was Worlds these every 4 year fans wouldn’t even know about it. She already has an OGM as does Alysa. I really hope she’s staying off SM.

The joy of my day - Alysa's quick interview about being on Olympic ice. Her attitude is infectious.
Oh, so sad :-(, I cannot watch the interview in my country, "restricted video"

I will post for you since it's short but impactful.

Q: What were your first thoughts when the music ended?
A: I wish it was longer so I could take in the moment some more. It was a great feeling.

Q: People who are watching you for the first time, if there is anybody out there like that, how do you explain being able to go out there and not show any nerves at all?

A: I'm really confident in myself, and even if I mess up and fall, that's totally okay too. I don't know, I'm fine with any outcome as long as I'm out there. And I am, so there's nothing to lose.

This is what I wish for any young athlete. It's what confidence sounds like: You can hear it in her voice and you can see it on her face.

well... granted Canadians are less passionate about women's figure skating... There are a lot of posts about a popped jump from Maddie on social media... and that one was costly.... It's really too bad. No wonder why people get out of sports... it's really hard to be a public persona.
I am not famous or anything but once I went to the grocery store and some dude recognized me from a concert I had just done. It was a very nice and polite interaction but it freaked me out. It's not cool. Really not cool. So I cannot imagine how awful it must be when the comments are negative. I also personally don't talk to skaters at competitions because I don't want to get in their way (I know a lot of fans are nice and like to talk to them and that skaters appreciate it... but because of my own awareness about being recognized I just don't. I stay out of it). I even have never told Patrick how much I love his skating and I had him right in front of me :)

So skaters, stay out of social media. Please... For every 1 nice post, there are 1000 nasty ones. Not worth it.

You’re a better man than I am. I borrowed money to travel to Texas to see Keegan and you better believe I was going to talk to the man.

She’s really special.
