2026 Rooster Cup Lakes Trophy | Apr 4-6

We finish the 2026 with a "Pirates Of The Caribbean" programme, courtesy of Sheryne JBARA (FRA).

I love er costume. A white blouse with a dark brown dress over it; red petticoat; red ribbon in ehr hair; and black socks to make it look like she is wearing boots.

I loved it!!! But I always love "Pirates" programmes.

She's happy.

She goes into 18th position.

Wow! Skater #1 Glorija CHATKEVIC (LTU) led from start to finish, and won the competition.

At the time, I was going to comment that it would have been so fun if she had been skating to "Gloria" by Northern Irish band Them. (She was skating to a French song).

Well, now that she has won, please forgive my indulgence:

Them - "Gloria"

It is not often that the first to skate wins a competition with this big a field.

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

:cheer: WELL DONE GLORIJA!!! :cheer:

Oh, come on!

The podium has been sitting there ready for a good while now. Get on with it!

I really hope they are not waiting until the top of the hour to start the ceremonies. Because I've got stuff I want to do between this finishing and going to eat. And the longer it takes them to start, the less I will get done in that space of time!

Podium Ceremonies starting now. (Thank goodness!)

The announcer is very enthusiastic!

Boys first. And I just realised - we will be hearing the Turkish anthem for the second time today.

When the boys all got onto the podium, it looked like a set of stairs - Enzo OURDANI (FRA) in 2nd is the tallest; then Kuzey SARVAN (TUR) in 1st is a bit smaller; and Martin DESSORT (FRA) in 3rd is the smallest.

And after that, it was the flat ground, because Louen QUINTIN-SERVOL (FRA) in 4th and Michael ALEKSEEV (USA) in 5th are the same height.

They have a brown carpet this time rather than a red carpet. And this carpet is staying flat! So, no tripping.

And the anthem was barely more than over than the whole podium area was cleared.

Then came the girls.

The three girls on the podium are roughly the same height, so the tops of the heads mirrored the height of the steps.

The winner, Glorija CHATKEVIC (LTU), nearly fell off the back of the podium when she got up onto the top step!

I don't think I've heard the Lithuanian anthem before. It's nice. I like it. But, they had a false start playing it. :p

It is so nice to see Wonder Woman up on the podium! You know, even if she isn't related to my kid, I might just adopt Milana MOISEEVA (EST) in the future. Well done on winning the Silver Medal!

I feel kinda sorry for her team-mate that skated immediately after her, Gloria BAN (EST), ending up just missing out on a medal, having been pushed down to 4th position by Adrienn SZALTELEKI (ROU) later on.

Now for the rest of the field to come in and get their medals.

Yep, my suspicions earlier were correct. They don't all fit onto the carpet, and a lot of them are on the ice.

Awww, it was chaos after the ceremony ended, with so many girls heading in the same direction.

And that is it.

This was my first time watching the Rooster Cup / Lakes Trophy. And I really enjoyed it.

Looking forward to next year!

I'm glad I kept the stream running to the end, because I saw something I had never seen before.

After the podium and it's associated paraphenalia had been removed, and everybody had left the ice, this girl appeared with a drill. And she was going around the ice and every now and again would kneel down and use the drill. I think she was taking cores of the ice.

Interesting.
