You know, I haven't seen Catherine-Charlotte LAPIERRE (POL) too many times, but this is definitely the best I have seen her skate.

And the very next day, we get another Polish skater doing a Caro Emerald programme!
Different song, though. "The Wonderful In You". But it was beautiful. And so was Karolina's dress. And her skating.
A great way to finish the competition.

And to finish off the ISU part of the event for today, we have a Pairs double-bill. The 2 Advanced Novice partnerships and then the 2 Junior partnerships complete their campaigns.

Looking forward to seeing them in Junior GP's in the future.

Jaslynn WONG / Nico CONFORTI (CAN) did a set of very impressive side-by-side jumps just after the previous partnership came off the ice. So, it was a sign of things to come.
They were great. The only thing I could complain about was that Nico's grey shirt and black trousers were a bit bland compared to Jaslynn's red dress.
They win the FS by over 20 points. And overall by over 30 points.
Juniors starting their Warm-Up now.

I don't think complaining about plain costumes for novice pairs is necessary really... At the JGP level, when they compete on the bigger international stage, that's where my cut-off is... but even then. It costs so much money to skate so at the earlier levels, I think it's normal that money is invested in training rather than in costumes

Ah, what a good sign for Junior pairs in the near future to have so many Advanced Novice pairs who scored really well internationally this season - Krebs/Trofymov, Meek/Meek & Gomez Moreno/Martinez-Iniguez (all age into Juniors next season) and Wong/Conforti (age into Juniors in 2026/27). K/T have the third-highest international Novice score post-2018 Olys and W/C the second-highest.
Plus the Chinese Novices who aren't competing internationally & competing as Juniors/Seniors domestically and the Novice-Junior pairs of the US and Canada (like Kerr/Castelletti & Cheung/Lee).

Not as effortless as at US Nationals, but it's their first international competition after all (and they probably didn't even expect to win Nationals). Their throws are too big for doubles at this point, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they're working on triples.

I worded it "the only thing I could complain about" to show that I would have to clutch at straws to find something to complain about, because they were so good.
I totally agree with you. For young skaters, it is far better to put the money into getting them the training than putting it into costumes that they will grow out of in no time. Hey, I would say the same for older skaters too!
At the end of the day, it's the skating that gets them the points, not the costumes.

Pretty good skate by Cheung/Lee. Strong lifts and throws that are also right on the border of being too big for doubles. Side-by-side jumps are kind of a mess though, hopefully, they'll be able to improve in that area to become more well-rounded.

I think she will get stronger with the jumps. She just looks a bit tiny to get enough power with them... Must be hard to do SBS with such a huge boy like Stephen when you are a mini. But she's a flyer and a fighter. I really like this team

It is always so heartwarming to see skaters surprised that they have done so well.
I look forward to seeing more of them in the future.
