4 Nationals Championships 2023-24 (POL, CZE, HUN, SVK)

Day 1 of the 4 Nationals Championships starts with the girls. 14 of them, arranged into a group of 4; followed by a group of 5; followed by a resurfacing; followed by a group of 5.

First time I've seen Katia this season and, I have to be honest, I didn't really like that programme. It isn't really her normal type of programme.

And I really don't like the dress. Dare I say it? It actually makes her look a lot older than she is. Which is a far cry from what we are used to getting from her.

Right, I'm going to pause 4 Nationals at the end of this Group 2 Warm-Up, because there is a girl in the Spanish Championships coming on shortly that I really want to see because I haven't heard tell of her for 6 years. And I want to see what she is like now.

The Germans are currently having a Pairs double-bill, so 4 Nationals may as well have one too! But, it's different levels going back-to-back compared to in Germany. Here we have 2 Junior partnerships; followed by 3 Senior partnerships.

But, since I am pretty sure they are being done as separate groups here (I wasn't sure with Germany), I will do separate posts.

Well, at least they have fixed "Loulia's" name on the on-screen graphics, even if they haven't on the Entries / Results page.

It's "Joulia" now.

You know, I wonder how she feels about the way that every time she changes country, her name gets transliterated into Latin characters differently.

It must be a nightmare whenever she needs to sign forms, remembering what to write!

Well, there's certainly plenty of support from the audience!

First throw nicely done. Side by side jumps nice too! And the next throw. And the lift.

Ach, everything was very good. And the run of green squares attests to that.

I know it's been a while since I saw them, and my memory may be deceiving me. But I think that is the best I have ever seen them!

Oh, I wish they had a camera for the skaters getting their scores. I want to see if they are happy.

There is no doubt in my eyes that they are going to lead.

Mmmm. They don't. They go into 2nd, 8.80 points behind the leaders, and only 0.96 ahead of 3rd position.

Well, I still thought they were very good!

Catching up now. Surprised Ekaterina Kurakova has changed the short. Isn't that the music she used in the Olympic season a couple of years back?
