Adeliia Petrosian

"It's a shame about the toe loop, because it was basically ready. It's true that the program as a whole was better choreographed than in the first round. All that's left is to keep working and get back into shape."

– There were several very good quadruple jump attempts during the warm-up. What was missing in the routine?

"I guess I wasn't quite relaxed enough before the jump. I was tensing up and thinking about how I wanted to jump. I just don't know how to ride it without thinking about how I want to jump it. I need to get into shape so it's a piece of cake."

– Was the plan to jump one quad? Or if you'd done the first one...

"I would go to the second one."

– Are you happy with yourself or is it a fly in the ointment – what you didn’t manage to do today?

"Of course, when there's a flaw in the program—a fall or an unexecuted element... But I want to congratulate myself that these were still two decent performances. I'm feeling better now, and my breathing is a little easier. So all that's left to do is just keep working calmly."

– I was told that you have a level three track and that you were a little off on the twizzle.

"Well, you have to look there, I haven’t seen the levels yet."

– Did you manage to have fun today?

"I guess during the last two jumps I started to let go and skated, looking at the stands, at the judges. I mean, I came to my senses."

– How will you prepare for the Russian Championship?

"Yeah, basically, it's the same as usual. I'll probably force myself to listen to the coaches more, because..."

- What, you didn’t listen to your coaches before?

"I seemed to be listening internally, but I couldn’t do it."

– Is this some kind of protest or are you tired of winning?

"No. This is still the most important season."

Both 4T were under-rotated. Shouldn't count as "successful 4T attempt" even for fans. More frustrating was that she almost completed both of the 4T, but failed the 3Lo and 3Lz. I'm unsure whether this was a good or bad result for Adeliya psychologically.
The worst scenario for Russian federation would be, Gorbacheva would outperform Adeliya at RusNats. The hell would break loose in Russia.

Of course it was good, she's getting back. That she failed some easier jumps after that, I think it was lack of concentration, she wasn't competing anyway.

You're probably right about the lack of concentration. I have seen her fall on triples in exhibitions before. Even in good form.

I don't think anybody would care. Adeliia tried to give Gorbacheva the Olympic spot and Gorbacheva denied it.

It was basically third performance in (nearly) a row, and honestly she did not fail triple this way at competition for a long time, while she did it at the test skates too. IMO she is much more concentrated and works more reliable in competition than when it doesn't matter so much.

Adeliia restored 3A!!!

Close to < TBH but it's great she has it at all. If she is at least landing the 3A now which she wasn't earlier I hope that means her 4T rotates easier now since it was always her best jump. This is the main focus to me. It also means she is still improving so her injury didn't put a new ceiling on what she is capable of. Hopefully by February she is even better.

I mean all things considered it's a great sign. It wasn't guaranteed to us fans that she will regain it at all.

"We have some good guys competing in Milan. If they do well, they'll have decent results. The competition is very tough right now, especially in men's skating. Malinin can do a quadruple jump! Both the Japanese and Europeans have quadruple jumps now. So it will be tough for both Petrosyan and Gumennik to make it into the top three," Plushenko said .
