Adelina Sotnikova

"In preparation for the performance, I never think about it, my head is occupied only with thoughts of good theaters".:laugh2:

She meant good skating

"that's what I people? People are just stupid to sit at the computer and write what they want. And they themselves do not do anything. They do not seek, do not know what the athletes are going through, how they work, they do not realize how hard this all goes. And why did I imagine will hammer his head with some people"

Why would I care about the people? People just sit stupidly at the computer writing whatever they want. Not doing anything themselves. They do not achieve, do not know what athletes feel, how they work, what amount of efforts it takes. And why would I bother myself with those people?! :agree:

"Once I had a dream to enter the GITIS"

Russian University of theatrical arts.

Haha thanks for the correct translation for those parts. I hope someone can translate the entire thing properly. Google tries but you know, lol.

I do like that she has such a good head on her shoulders. The abuse people can get online is so harsh and i am sure she gets a lot. So for her to be able to ignore that, is great. I think it helps that she has such a close-knit family and good friends to help her as well.

I know this season will be difficult s she missed all of last season with her injury. However, i hope it is good for her as well.

From FSU:
A poster on twitter was at The Ice press conference and it sounds like Adelina won't be doing CoR:

let`s talk ‏@00LT 11h11 hours ago
Adelina: my plan this season is to compete at RN and maybe EC and WC.
Per Russian press she spoke English and said:

Аделина: My plan is to have a good competition at Russian Nationals and maybe at European and World championships.

The Ice news report from FSU:
rosewood said:
Adelina and Kovtun arrived a day before yesterday's show. People tweeted it was kinda tough for them to skate just for two days in stead of the team Japan skaters. Adelina and Kovtun had to memorize the group numbers prior to the show. Despite both two's jumps were not there, people appreciated their participation in the show.

I read a few reports about her skate. According to the reports Adelina skated a dramatic exhibition program (maybe to Caruso by Lara Fabian). She skated in black costume and had a red cloth which indicates blood. People said her dynamic performance, good skating skills and great rink coverage were still there despite the mistakes on jumps, and of course she improved a lot in projecting her emotions to the music. Oblivion was greatly appreciated by people who watched it in THE ICE at the time and Caruso(?) is also caught people's heart who watched it yesterday. I'm expecting Adelina's great comeback in competitions if she can focus on skating in this season. :)

New Ex!!! Hopefully a video shows up somewhere

At first I'm neutral to her during her junior and Pre-Sochi days, and now I like her more and more; particularly because of how classy she is towards "criticism" (or, more accurately, abuse) hurled toward her post Sochi. I also admire her guts, IIRC she once said that she wanted to go to Pyeongchang 2018, fully knowing how unpopular she is among Korean skating fans.

What about Japan Open? She's confirmed for that, right ?

Yeah!! She's confirmed!!! Hopefully she compete somewhere else before RN for experience and to get minimums for EC/WC. Rosewood says there might have been a problem with translation and let's talk could have got it wrong.

I think Adelina is currently at a dilemma in respect of her skating career. If she chose to return to the competitive ice, she would even fail to make the national team for such big international events as Euros and Worlds; but, if she were bold enough to announce her retirement from the amateur skating, the reactions from this circle would be very very harsh and cruel. Can she take that? To go to 2018 Winter Games is only a distant dream for her and I highly doubt that she will be able to make it happen until then.

Well I'm not one to count her or anyone out for that matter in regards to making it to the 2018 Olympic Games. Adelina is a very capable and proven girl. Still.....she needs to get back to competitive skating and more importantly on an international stage. If she has a tough go of it so be it....but the sooner she gets to work the sooner she'll return to the form she had that night in Sochi.

Maybe a bit harsh for a fan thread but I think she needs to test the waters internationally much more so than just at Russian events. I believe she is good enough to make an impact there but this needs to be put into practice. If she isn't injured and capable of competing she really needs to get back on the ice.

As someone who stepped up to defend her win in Sochi ardently I feel it's time for the media games to come to an end. Just tell us what you intend to do and then do it. It just doesn't seem like that's too much to ask. I'm a fan and still see great potential in her but I'm growing tired of the story that seems to point to anything but certainty. I can't think of a single reason for a healthy Adelina not to include at least senior B events in her declared mission of intent.

That's not harsh, that's keeping it real  Adelina wasn't consistent even doing a full season worth of comps, just showing up for nationals and expecting to do well enough to place on the EC/WC just does not seem like a great idea. It's one thing if she was Yuna or Carolina but she got a lot of competition in Russia and those girls are hungry (and age eligible). The more international practice the better. Doing only Russian comps also does not seem like a good idea. But what do I know I'm just a couch fan

Well if I haven't offended you I feel much better. She is a tremendous talent but I'm one for tough love and rain or shine it's time to dance. We all know she can dance:yes:

THAT'S ALL I WANT and no it's not to much too ask. I'm done with the mind games and people seriously don't like being strung along. She can get just as much backlash from her fanbase as she can from the haters if she just up an retire after so many articles about how she's so eagerly wants to compete. Seriously either put up or shut up. I'm just going to say I love the way Mao and Patrick are making their comeback with 2 GP events. Yeah they may not be perfect and win but at least there's a plan and an attempt to come back. With Adelina nobody has a clue what is going on and when/if she will compete outside of Japan Open.

ETA: Not that I think she owes us anything but still....needed to blow off some steam :slink:

Actually she is not so sure about her future herself. On the one hand she is wishing to compete on the international ice, but on the other hand her life is often occupied by those tempting social activities, so that she cannot devote her time/energy wholeheartedly to stressful daily trainings, and inevitable injuries coming along the returning process are even more fretting than ever. I don't want to say any harsh words on her, but things will get much clearer with the new season approaching closer and closer.

It's not easy to turn down other fun and attractive things she might have the possibility to do. It must be much more interesting and she is about the right age to want to do other things besides training hard, facing injuries, competitions etc.
It will be a pity because I think the best of her in terms of maturity has yet to come. I think she was great in the DWTS and she has learned a lot from that experience. However, I understand if she decides to not compete any longer.

By the way, why are we discussing this? I thought she will compete this season and it was a done deal. Is there any update that I missed?

p.s. She will partecipate in a Gala in Italy on the 14th of August.

Well, she said she going to compete direct to russian nationals not grand prix or B competitions.

Well, she said she going to compete direct to russian nationals not grand prix or B competitions.

No, she said her aim for the season was to do well at nationals and then hopefully Europeans and Worlds. Nothing about not competing at all in the autumn & I really doubt she would be skipping everything. Remember that last year she did a Russian Cup event & was planning to do her GP events & a senior B before her ankle injury. However, I suspect the federation will wait until test skates to she where she is before they assign her the CoR spot if she wants it, but there's no hint that she wouldn't at least do challenger series to get back into competition mode before nationals.

In all seriousness, unless she want to go to Russia Nationals with no qualifying score to EC/WC, she has to do an international event at some point.

Right now she has one GP (besides CoR spot) or not? I can't remember....:hopelessness:
