Physically, she is just not where she needs to be as evident in all her FS this season. And It's always a mental game with Sotnikova. She has never been consistent as a senior. Then you add in her not ideal physical conditioning and well.... It seems like she's regressing as the season goes on. Or maybe she's just losing confidence? I didn't feel any fire in this SP (nerves probably) and it looks like she didn't even fight for that flip. I just shrugged my shoulders and went, "well at least she didn't pop it." Her 3/3 is also not were it needs to be. On review, the second triple toe looked < and her flip looked <<.

Still, I'm actually surprised she did as well as she did honestly :slink: I expected worse and a score closer to Tukt :scard8:

I just wish she had more competitions (at least more outside of Russia). I don't expect her to make the Euro/World team but I hope she can still do another Senior B before the season is over. And then maybe the Russian Cup Final. Next year I will be expecting much better skating and a full GP season.
 
This really wasn't her day, but I hope she accepts it for what it is and moves on. And I hope she keeps the SP for next season!

Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova shared her impressions after the free skate rental:

- The current rental turned out much better than the previous. With many on the right - this is a big step forward. But I knew that the girls lose the art is undeniable, but the other components pull themselves. Now, more eager to focus on technique. And the mood, of course, a little better. We were pleased with herself.

- You changed the color of the dress, why not?

- My dress is the same as black, just decided to change the color. This conveys the tragic mood of the program. Yet it transmits brighter sensation. Black madly in love and do not say that to postpone it for good. But this is the new me, too, very much.

Not Adelina's best today, but I thought her attitude was great - she seemed confident, attacking her jumps full-speed, no hesitation, no holding back. It bodes well if she can stay positive like that.

She wan't her best at Nationals but I am sure next year she will be even stronger. She will work hard to physically be where she needs to be and just needs to get consistent with her jomps. What I really love about her is she looks for the positives. She knows she needs to improve and I am sure she will be working on it. Really she doesn't have to continue skating competitively, she could just do shows but she still feels the drive and determination to do it.

Great that she will participate in Art on Ice.
