Adian Pitkeev

Yes...visibly improved in all areas! And if it takes dreaming about a new car, cool...whatever works...

wow, among all the skaters from test skates i am most impressed by Adian's progress, i am so glad his awkward teenager phase is over and he has really good SP, i hope his LP is also good, i really hated his programs last season, esp Paganini (and weird head shaking move like crazy person:slink:), and his spins looks a lot better!!! i am glad he is showing his potential! wishing all the best to him :cheer:

I'm impressed with his spins. He really worked on the flexibility. I mean, he was not hitting any position one might consider particularly aesthetically pleasing last season.

I like new choreo, SS (he said that he is working on it), costumes, music also (yes in the free program too), but it looks like his beautiful 3axel, his landings are lost. And it means that we will watch Kovtun as russian #1 for a long time...

I like both of his programs this year and he has improved a lot. He has opened up more with his body movements and above all not keeping his had down always as he used to.

I'm not so sure about that...there are other candidates and many reasons why this first competition could have gone badly. He looked fine at the test skates.

It's way too early to make predictions of who's gonna be russian no. 1.

Well, this is only his first competition. As time goes by, he will be more comfortable with the new programs, and his form will probably be better, so let's keep up the hope to see him land those 3A's like before.
But there's still no guarantee that he will overtake everyone else to become Russian No.1. Quite a few candidates for this position without too much difference in overall level of skills. Each has a lot of problems to fix before being able to stay in the leading position for at least 2-3 years.

Nevertheless I really wish that he could be Russia's No.1 Man, too. Three years ago when I watched him for the first time, I didn't expect at all that I'd have such hopes for him someday, but his massive progress has simply amazed me and made me admire him more and more. If he keeps progressing at the current speed, it's totally imaginable that he'll be dominating the Russian field at least at some point.

Adian has grown so much this summer, both physically and as an athlete and artist. I have never paid that much attention to him before, but the videos from this competition really impressed me. I would love to see him as the top Russian man, he has all the qualities of a truly top competitor.

So, he together with coaches had decided to add second quad in the free program instead of 3A.
I'm not sure if this is the right decision. But if it will help him to skate clean (weird thing) then ok

Paul, when I read this part "то вместо тройного акселя пробую на тренировках четверной тулуп", I thought he meant that he didn't focus on training 3A because of the mistakes made in Bratislava, but focused on training 4T as he was going to add one more 4T without removing any 3A.

Later I tried to understand this sentence the same way as you, but I felt it sounded weird and risky, too (Why does he have to give up one 3A just to improve his BV by less than 2 points? Is his 3A really bad now, or his 4T and stamina really good enough?), although I admit my interpretation sounds even riskier.

So I'm confused now. Could any Russian speaker tell me which is his real plan: two 4T + one 3A, or two 4T + two 3A?
(Paul, if you speak Russian I'd certainly like to hear your opinion!)

Alexander Lakernik makes an interesting comment about Adyan (Google translation):
According Lakernika, technically well equipped and students Eteri Tutberidze Adian Pitkeev. "Technically he is ready well - well slides, jumps well, - said the expert. - But he needs to get out of its shell - he immersed himself in all the time doubted his abilities. As soon as he will be able to overcome this, all will be well."

(Actually the article contains his analysis on the current state of Russian Ladies, Pairs and Men. It's quite interesting overall.
About the men: with no surprise, he mentioned a lot of names, beginning with Kovtun. Then he said that now "the road is open to everyone".)
