Adult skaters?

Hi. I'm a skated-all-my-lifer--now 29. You said you wanted some medals but didn't want to really compete. You are perfect for synchro! We compete as a team. Circles, lines, blocks plus sparkly costumes and matching makeup.
I love it because it's really social. We have team dinners and frequently hit the bar after practice. You should check it out! Plus, you can do synchro for a long time--my team ranges from teens (they don't get to go to the bar) to 40's.

The bar that's sooooooooooo funny!!!!

Hi; I've only just discovered this forum, but post a lot on skatingforums.com.

I'm an adult skater, who started in her 40s (now in her early 50s, alas). I do interpretive/artistic skating, and have several cups and medals especially from the Mountain Cup and the Dune of Flanders Cup, but my main love is ice dance. I dance with my husband, and although we are pretty awful, we improve slowly and one day will take the pre-bronze title! Our next competition is the British Adult Championships in Sheffield at the beginning of October, closely followed by the Scottish championships in mid-October, in which Husband will also be dancing with his Other Woman in the intermediate class.

Welcome Mrs Redboots! :D

As for me, I'm a kid skater who started the sport up again after about 22 years off. I've been to AN twice (hopefully I'll be there again in 2005). I compete at the Gold level (singles), and have tested a couple of moves tests (Gold and Intermediate). I don't envy those of you doing the alternating 3's on the Pre-Bronze test - those things are evil  .

One of these days I'll get over to Mountain Cup!

I started skating when I was about 30, and I'm 36 now. I only skate about once per week because the rinks are not near my home or work. I do private lessons, and have done since the beginning. There were no adults at my rink taking lessons, and no adult classes. I was a pioneer! I simply called the skating school director and asked her about lessons for an adult, et voila.

Since I skate just once a week, I have not advanced very quickly. Still, I love it.

I'm 47, skated for 7 years as a kid, then was off for over 30+ years before returning 2 years ago. Because of my previous test levels, I had to pass all adult Moves in the Field tests and Adult Gold freestyle so I could compete. I got a bronze at Mids and a gold (!) at ANs, which were my first competitions.

I've been waylaid for 3 months with a (mostly unrelated) back injury and am just stepping back out on the ice again where I'll have to work my way back up from the basics and try to regain my strength and flexibility.

But it's all worth it!!!

Hi Cinderella! I wondered where you've been :) Hope the back is holding up.

Thanks, I've missed all of you terribly!!! I've been able to "see" glacierskater on another forum, and from time to time I was able to "lurk" and see what you, Yazmeen, skater1964, starshine and many others have been up to. I'll be sure to post my "first lesson" info in the proper spot elsewhere so you can see what I'm up to.

try skating whenn its 60 below outside :)
well at least we have indoor and outdoor rinks....
I try and skate a few times a week but i cant seem to stroke on my right leg very well at all. every time I try I fall on that toe pick :( The left leg is fine.
but at least im staying upright most days lol

Adult skater here!! Just joined this forum, so....hello! I compete in Bronze FS and Pre-Bronze Solo Dance. I'm just about to test my Silver moves. Competed at AN '04 in Lake Placid. Can't wait for Kansas City in '05. My goal is to make the Final Round in Bronze Ladies I.

I'm so happy to see all these adult skaters here! Adult skaters are so supportive of one another, it great. Keep skating!
