Alena Kostornaia

Yeah, obscene language in Russian is very rich and many words of varying grade of rudeness are translated in English by the same word losing semantics nuances. Also there are this diminutive form in Russian (that used by Daniil) which makes any word much less offensive - that can't be conveyed in English adequately. Also, there is mentality thing too - russians are rather straightforward, emotional and unreserved people and rude language are common thing there which is not perceived as bad as in other countries.

But in this case the meaning for both "чертёнок (a little imp)" and "стервочка (a little b!tch)" is "peppy & free spirit".
lol, no
стервочка definitely has negative connotation albeit in subdued form
it's not that rude as b1tch of course - but not that far from it either
meaning that Alena has rather difficult character despite her angelic features - of which I not even doubt considering what I could perceive by her face, voice and videos of her periscope/instagram streams etc. where one can see how she behaves in private - long before Daniil's interview
not that I consider it as something bad, really - strong, cold, calculating, egoistic, pretending and ambitious personality is something really useful for one's success in life as well as a sign of strong leadership qualities and clever mind

I always knew there were lots of reasons why I love the Russians. Some fellow spectators at the Megasport Arena once said to me 'you are like us'

Btw, 'little b!tch' can be used in English as well in an endearing meaning, for example when someone behaves a bit cheeky.

I'm curious... is this a cultural thing, or maybe just in sport?
Daniil is using some daring words here, not the most appropriate for an official interview, i'd say... Eteri uses some dirty language even in the press conference... and Nina Mozer has some of the most strange interviews I've ever read.

In my language it is similar to russian. When we want to express love or sympathy, we nearly never use words like honey, darling, sweetheart etc. Thats considered overly snobbish and false. For expressing emotions we often use words with originally negative content but said in heart-warming way. E. g. "mrcha" ("carrion") or "potvora" (it can be translated as "b.tch", but it has different connotation). Those words we are using when we reffering about persons we love too, or even when we talk to our pets. Like when I have my supper and my dog is begging for a bite (her bowl is full of titbits), I would call her "potvora" (and give her the best piece of course). And its similar with people.

Yes, I understand. But now we are talking about an official interview, and that's why I was surprised to read such bold words, without knowing their precise meaning.

Well, using it during interview is a sign Daniil meaned it seriously when he referred about skaters from their group as his children :)

same in my language, too.. we never use honey, darling, sweethart... No.

Yeah :)
And when we use phrase "he/she is such a sweetheart" ("To je ale miláček"), it's the manifest of the deepest irony and it means you refer to that person very negatively.
I know, czech language is pretty deceptive

What other things did she say there? It seems interesting...

Eteri and Gleikh just went to Milan with Alina. Dudakov stays in Moscow. She hopes for new programs next season since she is bored of current ones. She is upset with extra junior season because she wants to make it to seniors asap. She was asking how was her new haircut with tail. Also there isn't any dining room since they are prohibited any additional food. Sasha prefers to go home in the break between training sessions (most likely because she lives nearby) while Alena and Daria spend it in locker room/somewhere else in ice rink facilities. Zhenya has day off.

I would pay really good money to see the dynamics of that group. Like, who is Alenka closest to? or the others? I'd peg her and Dasha as friends but I guess anything's possible...
just like Alenka to be upset at another season of junior dominance! always improving, that girl

34kg x 1,46 is very underweight. She need to weight 40kg at least.
no. it's not how it works. In fact the BMI is useless with high-level athletes no matter the sport. The body mass is something very specific not only to each person but also to each sport.
and especially For 14 y.o.? who is doing pro-sport?

Aljona Savchenko. And she is 34 y.o.... not 14 y.o...
Height: 1.53 m.
Weight: 44 kg.

BMI "works" in very limited range of height and also age. It cannot be applied to developing kids and it has very low value in case of people with height less than 1,55m or higher than some 1,8 m. It's "the average for the average".

We also talk about athletes who have more muscles than normal people. Considering muscle weigh more than the body fat, i suppose she has to weigh a little more.
