Rewatching these performances, I realized that Aliona isn't wearing any necklaces! That is unusual. Maybe she got tired of them flying out...?

From the fancam angle, I feel like the FS doesn't look quite as empty as it did when I first watched it. I was relieved to find out that Aliona forgot some of the choreography and "died" in the middle of the program. Once she is able to practice the program more and get fully in shape, I hope it will look much better.

I agree with the poster earlier that said they didn't like her costumes very much. I feel like the SP costume has a very cool concept (and I'm sure Aliona appreciates the anatomical details), but to me, it makes her look short and even a bit stocky. And although I think they made it one-sleeved to be kind of edgy, I think it looked cooler at the test skates when she had one black sleeve and one red one. I also think that if they're going for an edgy/modern program, maybe she should try a suit with pants rather than a dress.

I like the cut of the FS dress better--to me it makes her look taller and very thin--but at the moment it's the wrong size (too big). I also wish that they had either chosen a much bolder, brighter pink or a very pale pink, and made the side panels purple instead of black.

It does seem like they will make further adjustments to her costumes, though, so we'll see what happens.

Overall it is such a pleasure to see Aliona back on the ice!

If there is a Europeans or worlds this season the third spot will between Aliona and Liza since Kamlla is too young. Alionas brashness may come back to bite her if some Russian Federation decision makers prefer a more low-key quiet profile like Anna's or Alina's.I do not think aliana has a big ego or anything like that and I don't think her comments are off the tracks but compared to Anna's demeanor it may seem otherwise to some people.

Will the FED think that they owe Liza from 2 years ago? Will they think since aliona was the best lady skater in the world last year she should get a chance? This will be a fascinating decision if we get to that point. Right now everything is in doubt because of covid19. I think the ISU should consider events with skaters in their home cities and judges watching on zoom or something like that. Yes it would be controversial but it would be better than nothing and better than missing worlds 2 years in a row.

As for Aliona is she close to getting her triple axle back? Her losing her triple axel is one of the figure skating mysteries of this season. Covid also played a big role when that. She will obviously need her triple Axel back next season if she is to make the Olympic team or the world's team after the Olympics and let's hope both events come off somehow someway.

if she gets her 3As and consistency back to where it was, i don't think this is going to play out as a battle between her and Liza at all. she was miles ahead of her last season, and i think she's still ahead of her without the 3As. she has already said she plans to do them at Rostelecom and they're coming along, plus Russian judges have already shown they still love her.

I agree with what you said. But there's a lot of pressure on Aliona now. Last year with the pressure was on Sasha and aliona and Anna were more consistent and it paid off for them.

I hope you're right about aliona getting her triple axle back. And yes she is still a fabulous skater even without a triple axel.

i think she said after she competed the other weekend she was landing 2 good ones out of 5 and she was trying them in practices at the competition, but left them out because they aren't as reliable yet.

Until the new stars become senior, whoever does not select the 3A as a team should be fired.

I do prefer awards on the ice.
One thing I usually love in many sport is to see the champions use their tools casually like an amateur.
A ball player just playing with the ball, a pilot driving just for fun and not searching for the limit, a skier or a skater just gliding and enjoying.
You can usually spot such mastery in little gesture that become second nature for them, like walking

No good points but maybe Rostelcom doesn't mean much to a skater of Alionas caliber and record in the last year. If she doesn't get her 3A back comfortable and great like last season until next season that's okay too. the way coviit is going it's unlikely there will be a European world again. Missing worlds 2 years in a row would be unfathomable. That's why I've suggested doing virtual competitions with skaters skating at their home ranks. It will be tough to pull off and it will be controversial but it will be better than not having worlds again. Hey I just want to see figure skating and I want to see AK.
