Alena Kostornaia

I rather feel embarrassed for Team Tutberidze.
And TT just had an incredible Olympics first second and 4th and ladiesl 10th in men's and 14th in dance and all anyone wants to talk about is not those historic accomplishments but all the frustration and anger surrounding that team. They really need some marketing and public relations people but I don't think Russia does that.

I am glad TT did not just dump Aliona and they may have put her in a good spot only time will tell. cska has a certain standing in Russia and they have several coaches there if it doesn't work out with Elena. She will retain her old friends like Sasha and Anna and Kamila and SA and little Petro but she will make new friends like Mark and the other skaters and there are probably hundreds of them at cska.

I just want AKssgod-given talent to shine again her natural abilities are second to none. It was so shocking to see her PCS scores fall so much in the last year or two. If she can get her PCS scores back to 90% of where they were two years ago she will be a factor again.

Aliona has two grand prix events for next season let's hope she gets them but after Russians were banished from Worlds by the il ISU I wonder what's going to happen in the fall and the Grand Prix season and then at Europeans and worlds next season. It all seems to be in doubt for the Russians.

TT kicked Anna? She has been there the longest and is like EGs 3rd daughter I gather.

I don't know how Anna has survived there so well over the last decade or so she really is remarkable. Aleona on the other hand has had some great ups at TT and some big time downs. I think aleona will never be anything less than a world class figure skater and I think she can be a lot better than that under the right circumstances and I hope she gets that at CSKA. But her personality is so strong she's just not going to do whatever coach Eteri says without questioning it. What can you do? Eteri is not used to her students challenging her in any way.

Yes she was kicked once when she wasn´t worthy enough to train under Eteri. I don’t remember why but I think it was because she wasn’t able to land some jumps. She trained and returned to Eteri.

That must have been a very long time ago because Anna has been at sambo 70 since she was like 5. But they have a rule there if you can't do something you get dropped down. I think that Is happened to Dasha. Panekova. When she couldn't keep up with the best girls EG wanted to put her with the kids. :(

At least aleona does not have to deal with that anymore hopefully she can carve a new path for herself.

A new chapter starts tomorrow.
I don't know anything about the new coach, but I hope Aliona can find passion and the way to express herself on the ice.
I'm done talking about Eteri in relation to Aliona.
She's amazing in many ways and the results are on her side, but her management of human relation with her skater is awful.

Aliona without a 3A if confident and motivated could be a better version of Loena and to me it would be beautiful.

If you want I can tell you about her new coach.

Aliona is already a better version of Loena. I was a little disappointed by Loena at the Olympiccs. I think you could make the case that Anastasia was a little better than Loena even though she finished well behind her. So I don't think Aliona if she's healthy will have an issue being ahead of and skating better than Hendrix who is really good and the nudges love. I think aleona if she has decent programs can score in the 220 points again without her 3A. The key will be skating cleanly and getting her PCS scores back up close to where they were 2 years ago.

Well said about EG. She is an incredible coach and had an unbelievable Olympics but but most people just think of negative things is the things about her. Look at what her pairs team did at the breath.r 2nd could have been first. Training at TT this season they were reborn she had a man in the top 10 and of course ladies 1st 2nd and 4th and a dance team 14th. Staggering success that we may have never seen from any coach before it won Olympics in multiple disciplines. But again all anyone wants to talk about is Eteris mannerisms or she's cold hearted or doesn't know how to deal with people. I think we all know that being a great coach doesn't make you great in other aspects of life..

This was EGs idea to transfer Aliona. I have mixed feelings about that but I'm glad she just didn't expel her without a new coaching home. Aliona went back it did not work out for a variety of reasons I hope she stays healthy and can skate beautifully again. the rest will take care of itself.

The problem is that if Eteri's "management of human relation with her skater is awful", then Buianova is literally a graveyard in this matter.

Lol so true. But it's not funny because after buyanova and nastya parted ways in 2019 after one season Elena went public weeks after they split up well how out of shape Nastiya was how she couldn't train properly and that she was expelled for being out of shape. For a top Russian coach in her mid-fifties to expel and humiliate a fragile sixteen-year-old girl basically body shaming her in front of the world was super disturbing. Buyanova going public like that was done to ruin Nastyas career. It did she never got an international assignment not even a senior b the next two seasons and had to transfer countries to skate again internationally. So when I heard that aliona coming off injuries and being unable to practice due to those injuries was going to this coach instead of Marks coach at cska for example I was very disappointed. But if aliona gets healthy and get some good programs then she can still achieve a lot. The butcher as I call her has never had a lady skater with the talent level of aliona and that includes Adelina. I hope Buyanova handles AK with care and understanding. But don't hold your breath.

First things first let's let this fabulous skater get completely healthy and then start practicing normally again doing triple triples all over the place.

I think it’s a good thing to change coach. She had a lot of pressure on her shoulders trying to land her 3A (we could see how she was scared in each competition) and the results are injuries and being kicked.
I think the pressure to get her triple axle back was just too much for Aliona. And not being able to get it back spilled over to the rest of her skating unfortunately. Just get the triples back score 220 to 225 points and go from there.

I'm not writing her off. She made the Grand Prix Final this year despite her problems. I don't believe the judges will ignore her obvious superiority in skating skills and other components. And if they raise the eligibility age, she could even be on the World team, assuming Russia finds a way to re-establish itself in the world community.

Without her 3A, she still medal.
Maybe, instead of focusing about that jump, doing another triple combo like Anna would be more efficient.

Well, she tried to get her 3A for the olympics, it was a race for a spot.
To be honest, if she wasn’t injured before the national, she would probably get that spot

That's true and anything is possible with this girl she's capable of great heights. She has a new start now hopefully she's hopefully she stays healthy if she does good things will happen.

Aliona really has such a bad luck. In 2019 she withdrew from her second junior worlds because of knees inflammation, in 2020 she lost senior worlds because of cancellation, then she had to withdraw from nationals because of covid, then she broke her arm... :(
